Whoops, sorry, my wife was using the computer and managed to lock it up, so uTorrent wasn't running anymore after she restarted. I'm home, and seeding again.

No need for apology, those things happen. It's looking good again.

Anxious to try this disc (I'm at 97% right now). So, SL, a lot more interest than you thought, right?
At least 42 involved in the torrent right now.....not too shabby.

Thanks for going forward with this project !!

I have two seeds at different sites and during the weekend I was using/borrowing the neighbor's wifi for an extra seeder.

I forgot to increase my torrent upload speed. I was set at only 70 kbps. I just put it to 150 kbps for during the day, and unlimited at night...

I can confirm that the burned disc will not play on a Pioneer BDP-51FD without severe pixelating/stuttering.

The bitrate is just too high and the DL-DVD can't stream it fast enough. Hopefully, others, with other players, will have better luck because it's a great project.

BTW, the player does play all my other avchd discs, with lower BR, no problem.

I have confirmed that it won't play at all on my creaky old Panny BD355. I seem to recall the same happened with the test disc, though, which did play fine on my newer Sony (S570). I haven't had a chance to try this new one on my Sony yet, however. I'll be sure to do so tonight, though. Note: I DID replace the two files (in both locations) to maximize compatibility per the notes. If, for some reason, the disc won't play on the Sony BR player, either, I'll burn one without swapping out the two files and see if there is any difference.

Again, though, I recall the preview disc I had played fine in the Sony BR player, so I'm sure that'll be fine. That Panny BD35 is fairly ancient, and due for replacement in the not-too-distant future anyway.

I wonder if my new Panny DMP-BDT210 will play it, or if I should just wait for the full 50GB BD...

Blank DVDs are cheap enough to just give it a shot. (Blank BR50s, less so)

Bummer guys!!!

It has been my experience that cheap players play these discs better than the expensive ones. I would say that maybe because the cheap players do not adhere as close to the standards as the expensive ones. (?)

Anyone that it plays fine other than my Insignia and Magnavox?

Considering how old and creaky (not to mention fairly low end, even at the time) my Panny BD35 is, I wouldn't worry yet. IIRC, it played fine in my older (tho not quite as old) Sony. I'll confirm tonight.

How do you burn this to disk? I've got IMGBurn, but there is some extra stuff in the folder structure. I am not familiar with the structure of a DVD.

Help?

Open Imgburn and select write folder to disc. Then open windows explorer to the folder where you unpacked the bass disc. You should see a "BDMV" folder and a "Index and Movie Files" folder, drag the "BDMV" folder to imgburn. Go to the Label tab on imgburn and type under UDF: Bass Demo disc or the description that you would like. Go the the Options tab and make sure that the UDF Revision is 2.5. then burn...

BTW, I have a question on the quality of the clips between BD9 and BD50. Are they the same quality, or will BD50 offer better quality? Since I have a media server, if the quality is the same, then I can also download the individual discs and use for streaming. However, I do want the best quality.

Same quality. DVD9 has a lower capacity than BR50 (as the numbers indicate), but the files are the same.

Quality is the same as the original disc. If you have an HTPC or media player device, you can play it as as ISO and it should play with menus. On a HTPC I like Total Media Theater, it plays everything and includes ALL the codecs that one might need to play any type of file, plus you can use it as a front end for the files.

Oddly enough, I have no DL DVDs right now. Haven't used on in a while since going Blu... You are right though, if I need to order some media anyway (out of 50GB Blus too), I could just get a few DL DVDs and try it for a lot less than a single 50GB Blu...

FWIW, I confirmed it seems to play fine on my Sony S570 (BX57, same thing). Just not on the old Panny BD35.

I didn't try the top menu thing, now that I think about it, but the clips played no prob.

You can not get to the TOP MENU heading on the segment discs, this button is ONLY for the Blu-Ray disc.

I'm interested to see what you picked for music!

No subwoofer I've heard has been able to produce the bass I've experienced in the Corps!

Glad I hadn't gotten around to printing the case cover yet. LOL (it happens to us all...)

Question about the "disc label"... where does that go? Shouldn't a label destined for a disc be round? That image looks rectangular. I assume I'm being a dork and just missing something here...
