I think here is where it get real tricky and confusing at the same time. If you look at the DVD specs that is correct the bit rate for the specs can't support the lossless higher bit rate, however... is this for the DVD specs for reproduction or is it limited too by the media? Remember we are dealing with bits of digital data, so for the media itself is just data.

When we tell the player that this is a BD disc it uses the laser pickup circuitry/electronics for the "Blue laser" which supports a higher bit rate, provided here that the player recognizes this a bluray media. There are some markers on the media itself and how it gets recorded that some players check and some others don't. This is the only explanation of why some players play the discs with no problem and some others don't.

I had read that re your players in a previous post. I just find it unusual that any player capable of playing avchd can get a standard dvd to transfer those high BD bitrates, when every avchd site that I found, claims that it just can't be done.

Just did some further testing and the Terminator Salvation clip played fine, while the U-571 stuttered like crazy, during the opening depth charges.

It isn't really an AVCHD disc either, even the disc structure is of a true Blu-Ray disc, but due to the media (DVD) the player thinks or recognizes the disc as being AVCHD (in some players) which is not. If there where no checks for the media the disc should play as a BD disc, which in reality is. You could burn the disc to a BD25 and it will play no problem in any player... but that would be wasting lots of space.

Hi SL, yes I realize that. My Pioneer recognizes it as an AVCHD because of the media (BD and AVCHD structures are very similar). However, standard dvd media has a theoretical max transfer rate @ 18Mbps and BD media @ 40Mbps. EVERY AVCHD disc I own (most are BD structure BTW) plays perfectly, as long as BR is within that spec.

So theoretically these clips shouldn't play smoothly. Thus, my fascination that some players are able to play them without incident. (BTW, I like the little SL Logo at the top center of the menu screen.)

Edit: Shadowcaster is correct, of course, that "peers" is the nicer term for leechers, but both are the same thing, in the end. I suppose the negative connotation of leechers may be due to the large numbers of people who DON'T re-seed, and simply grab and run... leeching off the goodwill of others rather than contributing back by continuing to seed after their download finishes.

I'm still seeding the part 1 disc (Bass), and others are still downloading it, so I'll leave that running for now, although I'm not going to bother taking it to the office for a speed boost at this point. Perhaps if the releases start to get more popular, but with the (relatively) low numbers at this point, it doesn't seem worth the effort.

The next part, disc 2, is still trickling out to the seed group... I'd agree with SL that at the pace I'm seeing, perhaps another day and we'll be ready. I may bring that one to the office to boost the initial push, once I have the full disc.

shadowchaster, playback simply depends on your player. My old Panny BD35 (oldest player I own) chokes and dies, while my Sony S570 (newer, but still a couple (few?) years old) plays it no problem. I just got a new TV, so I may be upgrading that old Panny soon, since I won't need the analog capabilities it offers anymore. I'll probably get a newer Panny (110 or 210), so it will be interesting to see if the newer players of the same brand do any better.

I have an S570. Did you burn yours straight from the download or did you use the patch?

I used the patch, since I was going to try it on my Panny as well.

Note that I have not tested each and every clip, I just spot-checked it. I suppose I should give it a shot when I think about it.

Btw, my player is actually the BX57, which is just the Costco-only version of the S570. Only difference, from what I understand, is the label, and the included HDMI cable. Most people are more familiar with the S570, though, so that's how I generally refer to it...

I have FiOS 35/35 service, and I still have the Bass disc up. I will see the next disc for a long time after getting it as well.

I want the full on, everything combined, huge blue ray.

EDIT: Just noticed I do NOT have the bass disc seeding...wonder what happened to it?

There will be a separate tracker for the next disc, when it's ready. We still have a little ways to go due to slow upload speeds, but we're getting closer.

If I can get my server to connect to the tracker everything would be perfect...

No subwoofer I've heard has been able to produce the bass I've experienced in the Corps!

Must..stop...buying...every bluray release...

I'll bring the files to work to help with the initial push.

Hope to test it out this evening.

This project is a little different...

If you have a DVD burner you could give it a try, no results guaranteed though, but you wouldn't know unless you try it.

You need DVD-DL (double layered media DVDs) and a DVD burner. Follow the instructions on the first post.

Also, if you have Total Media Theater or Power DVD software installed you could play it directly from your computer.

Another vote for music demo next. Great job by the way. I'm looking forward to demo-ing the animation DVD with the kids this weekend. We own every movie on the animation disk, but it will cool to have them together on one disk.

Seeding Animation Disc at home and work. Nice job! I, too, own each of those titles already, but it is indeed nice to have them assembled together.

Works great on my Sony BR. I'm going to assume it, like the Bass disc, won't work on my old Panny BR, but I'll confirm here once I can test it. FWIW, I didn't bother swapping out the alternate files before burning this time, and the Sony still did great.

downloaded and seeding in multiple locations.

I own almost all of these movies and it is NICE to jump between the different clips without waiting for each disc to load up!

Just a tad of new information and differences between the first two disc.

The bass disc download after unpacking has two main folders the BDMV folder and the folder for the patched files while the animation download after unpacking has an additional CERTIFICATE folder.

All the information I've ever read about the certificate folder is that is not really needed, but just for compatibility sake I've included it in the animation disc. In case your player is having trouble playing the files you can try including the CERTIFICATE folder... once again no guarantees that all players will work.

Total Newbie here to bit torrent and all of this stuff. Leo was nice enough to give me a little private tutoring via PM and BAM it worked tonight on my first try burning. I'm using a fairly new Mac and thought I'd pass out what I did if there's anyone else like me that's "never done this before".

My Blu Ray player is an Oppo BDP-93.

First off, I found using Google Chrome to download the files worked better than Apple's Safari as Safari was saving the Target files as a text file. Chrome left it as a torrent file.

After that, I downloaded uTorrent at:
http://www.utorrent.com/downloads/mac
Used that program to download the big torrent files related to the downloaded target file.

They download as .rar files. From there I downloaded UnRarX at:
http://unrarx.en.softonic.com/mac
Used that to extract them to useable files for the burning.

Mac's default burning software as far as I can tell didn't have an option for UDF so I have no idea if it would do it correctly. I don't think so, but maybe. Anyway, I gambled and downloaded a burning program that ended up working so lucky me. Burn Program was at:
http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net/Pages/English/home.html

Selected "DVD (UDF)" as the option at the top, dragged the BDMV folder from the extracted RAR files to the Burn program window and that was it. I used a Verbatim DVD+R DL at 6x burning speed. Threw the finished product in the oppo, Menu screen popped right up.

I only did the LFE one, as the animation one is on my work computer and I did this LFE one at home. My son and I had a kick out of the bass scenes, and it was fun to see a few I hadn't seen the movie but had read on here people recognized the scene as good for LFE.

All in all, thanks Leo. Easy, painless and fun. Nice touch too with the Avatar THX trailer playing as the background menu, DTS-HD MA and all!

I need a little help. I used imgburn to create an ISO file but cant get it to play in VLC. either I used the wrong files to create the ISO or vlc is the wrong player to use...

I thought that VLC would play ISO files. I am downloading TMT to try the trial. that should tell me if the ISO is good or not.
