So here is the finish I'm trying to copy.

I'm going to keep shopping around for someone to finish this for me for something more in line with my budget

Your fear of DIY is what ? I'm assuming its in the staining process and getting the color right ?

Yeah pretty much.

I played with some stain on two different pieces of mahogany this weekend...color variation was incredible

I guess it is time to provide some updates...not a crazy amount of work done since my last posts, but overall in a good position to enjoy my basement.

I'll likely hold off on the bar and bathroom for a little while, after finishing my MBA program in May, I really wanted to pay off my student loans as well as one of the theater 0% cards coming due. It was a little sad watching that go away.

First step was getting the theater door stained
The theater door is mahogany 1 3/4" thick

Next I started continued to finish painting the basement

Finished painting

Slowly building an equipment rack. Right now it houses (top to bottom)
Middle Atlantic UQFP-4DRA fan
Denon 3808ci receiver
Atos DLA6 (to control house speakers)
17" monitor for computer
HTPC
Emotiva XPA5 gen2 amplifier (for theater)
Emotiva UPA200 amplifier (for house)
Panasonic Blu-Ray player
Fios cable box

I've also got side panels and a rear door, but I'm going to wait till I have more components in place .

Finally the theater, again a few items need to be completed

Lol your kidding right ? Nice taste in paint, looks just like my kids room for cribs. That's funny. We did grey on bottom lighter on top thing too, with white doors and trim.

Door looks good!

Taking a break, football season is around the corner. Next big items are the bar, bathroom, and patio.

Depending on how motivated I get, I'd like to start the bathroom late this year

I'm a big Jets fan...my heart still hearts from last week

I'm afraid to hear you say you're a Pats fan, I choose to block it out because I like you

I usually root for Jets unless it's against the Pats for division. We went out dinner last Sunday and I was joking with my dad why am I cheering for the Jets? Since sexy Rexy took over I've maintained an interest. He's consistently entertaining.

I'm also a Ravens fan. That does to make sense either.

I love Rex, I hope he is around for a very long time. I also like the Ravens, I think it's because I had them as my fantasy football defense the year they won the Super Bowl
