Keenan, shpitz, bori and 1 others like this.

If one is going to make a simplistic assessment of the value of different alignments, it would be that sealed/IB goes the lowest, at the highest cost per dB; horns have the lowest cost per dB at the expense of size, and vented box characteristics lie in between the other two. None is inherently superior across the board, neither is any inherently inferior across the board. The one to use is the one that fits your response and output needs, available space and bank account. -BFM

Google "How To Encrypt ********** Traffic." There's a how-to enable encryption on various programs at Torrent Freak by that title.

Edit, it looks like the word ”bitorent” (intentionally misspelled here) got asterisked out in the quote above.

Good on ya. I've had all 4 discs seeding for months, as well as a few other demo discs I've found in other threads. Not sure why some folks aren't able to connect. Make sure your client can support encrypted connections. Yes, google how to enable it....usually just a check box in settings.

So why would you want to encrypt a torrent such as this?

Many ISP's do what's called 'traffic shaping', where they will detect specific types of traffic, e.g. torrents, and slow you down on purpose.

Encryption should prevent that.

And I'm not aware of the ability to turn this on/off per torrent, it's global to the client, either all encrypted or none...

That's because I haven't made it yet. The first line didn't refer to what I wrote below it, should have written something to make it less confusing. Several of those movies on my list haven't been released to blu-ray yet either.

Yeah this. I believe that all my traffic is legal, but I'd prefer that my ISP and anyone else listening not know what my data is. I don't want them doing traffic shaping, or otherwise prioritizing my data in any way.

I think I've got it set up correctly. I'm using Deluge, and it looks like it's set up to use encryption by default. I don't Torrent things often, so I'm not super familiar with how it's supposed to be set up!

I'm seeding it now, and it shows that it's uploading at a rate of about 170 KiB/s. My normal upload speed is 30 mbps. Anyone know why the upload speed is so slow? Download works the same way. When I downloaded it, the speeds ranged from 1.2 mbps down to just a few kbps. I've set both to unlimited speed.

Because your seeding, though appreciated, isn't needed at the moment, so you're contributing less than you would if demand were greater.
Similarly, your download speed depends on the number and capacity of seeders.

Can somebody please start seeding these files? I get 1 person and sometimes no-one. At his rate, it will take weeks to download these files.

Make sure you enable encryption, maybe that is why you can't connect to anyone.

I'm nearing my monthly cap, so I'll turn it back on 2/1.

i think it's been mentioned before... but we should really look at uploading to a newsgroup server... so many annoying posts about a piece of demoware that is 4+ years old. People need to realize, people can't be seeding all the time, uploading to a newsgroup will eliminate the need for seeders....

Torrents aren't difficult. You just need to be VERY careful if you don't know the SOURCE of the torrent.
For example, the other demo discs from here (see my sig) would be safe. A link from Google to "great demo disc" might not be as safe.

Torrents are as easy as installing a client, then opening the .torrent file within the client and selecting a location where to save the download (single .ISO file or multiple files, doesn't matter). Many clients can use uPNP which does the router configuration for you automatically, so you don't need to worry about opening/forwarding ports etc...

I prefer the old versions of uTorrent, they were less bloated, easier interface, and 300k filesize.

Give this one a try:

To ease up on the reliance of people seeding these and to massively increase download speeds, I've uploaded these discs to usenet. I hope this is ok.

I've never uploaded to usenet before, but it seems to have worked. NZB's are in the attached zip files. The upload for disc 3 got screwed up on a few of the files. Par files are included which should take care of it, but I also re-uploaded the bad files and included the "fix" nzb as well.

Let me know if there's any issue with me doing this and I'll remove the nzbs.
