Tim - I know you are into all the RGB LED lighting for Christmas. I think a neighborhood in California just laid down a challenge for you and your new SC neighbors!

I hope all is well!

I am pretty sure you can understand.. I am totally swamped with projects around the house. Framed in for a new fireplace (with dreaded TV above, but got the bottom of the tv to 40" above the floor)

Drywall flying this morning as I demo the kitchen..

I have been thinking about my computer controlled lights for weeks now.. They are all nice and organized on the shelving I built.. Just can't find the time to source a pole for my mega tree and frankly I don't remember how to hook up the controllers. Some were DMX, others Renard.

Pixels were just coming into the scene when life got busy. I decided to sop investing in standard light strings betting that pixels would soon become cheap and the standard for computerized displays.. 3 years later I guess I made a wise decision.

I did stop in at my old haunt in the diy xmas forum and was blown away by how far things have progressed.. the free software contributed by users to sequence the pixels is amazing.

Plenty of time until Christmas

Hope all has been well with you. Wishing everybody subscribed a very merry and safe Christmas! There is nothing more important than your family, take the time to cherish them!

Tim

Nah, non-load bearing walls separating the kitchen from the dining/living area.

House has trusses that span front to rear, which is pretty amazing for a 2x4 truss. I was skeptical.

However, there was no bearing below these walls (sat mid-span on the floor joists)

The jacks below the headers you see there had actually shrank leaving 1/16 to 1/8 gap below the headers, so I knew I was all good.

Going for an open floor plan type deal. Had black brushed granite put on the cabinets on the walls.. Going with an absolut blanc (pure white) man made countertop on an island I will be building where those walls are.

Interesting. I don't think I've ever seen a partition wall framed quite like that before. And I'm not doubting you, I'm just impressed with the overkill in the pass-through.

That will be really nice to open up. Good luck getting that all patched up.
