I am planning to get a Peerless UNV-PRG mount for my Epson 5010 projector. The peerless mount has minimum 6 to 9 inches of extension pole only. I am looking for something around 2 to 3 inches of extension pole to drop my PJ 2 or 3 inches down extra.. What is the best way to get a 2 to 3 inch size extension pipe? Looking for options here?

Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and get a length of iron pipe cut for you. They'll thread it right there.

2 to 3 inch size should be a standard pipe nipple available at ND or Lowe's.

That mount can also be dropped down using threaded rods.

For a universal projector mount, please consider the Chief RPA-U. I will admit that I haven't used the specific Peerless mount that you are describing. I have used the Peerless PAG-UNV-HD mount, though.

No matter what I did, there was some play in the setup after projector installation. i.e. whenever I would use the vertical or horizontal lens shift knobs, the projector would move around quite a bit. It would theoretically return to its original position, but was not confidence inspiring. I have recently changed it out for the chief. Very solid mount and I could not be happier.

Just my 0.02.

Yes. The Chief mount is available at many places. Do a yahoo/google search and you will not only see the vendors, but also find more pictures and information about the product. It is used by many around here, including myself.

I would also recommend purchasing through AVS.
