Thanks!

The camera I was using kept flashing and it's amazing how different the carpet looks in the pics. In reality it's much darker and the lighter lines are much subtler.
@hotpepper - Screen is 120" wide 2.35:1 from Falcon screens. Highly recommended - great customer service and easy assembly (even for a noob!) Projector is a JVC RS46 - came this week, just waiting for the mount (Monday)
The first movie not sure - first showing will be Ep 1 of Firefly on BluRay!

So it appears the HDMI cable I ran through the tube to the projector is dead. If was a bitch to run in the first place and has quite the circuitous path. I doubt the cable can be repaired. Any suggestions?

That's what I'm thinking too.

Yeah - someone else mentioned the directional problem but Bill is right - doesn't matter either way - I have to pull a new cable which I'm worried won't make it through the circuitous route.

But oh well - not like I have a choice!!
@gibroni - I don't think my projector can do wireless HDMI - is it even reliable enough anyways?

I actually did run Cat 6 to the projector and that appears to be working. Didn't know about inverters - I will check it out, thanks.

Are you going to manually switch between 16:9 and scope? I wanted the Epson or the JVC projector, but ended up with the Panny because of price and the lens memory feature.

Nice theater.

Do these really work as well as an HDMI cable?
Shrug, I doubt it. Judging by the reviews they are very hit or miss.

Look up an HDBaseT solution. Those only require one cable, and are very reliable. Cons are they are expensive, and require a box at both ends.

@Wahoo - haven't delved too much into the features of the projector yet but from my reading this model also has a lens memory feature. Figuring it out is another matter....
@jeeper - thanks for the info. I'll try pulling some new cables through first.

So not only am I a noob - I'm also an idiot!!!

Thurs night my new cables came and my wife was helping me to run them. However, she noticed when I pulled on the projector HDMI the cable labelled riser was moving @ the equipment rack!! Doh!!!!
So the cables actually work when connected (and/or labeled) correctly!
In celebration my wife and I plopped down and watched Terminator in BD (one of my all-time favorites). And last night she couldn't sleep - popped in Pacific Rim.

Amazing quality - she kept saying she couldn't believe how clear this was. She didn't expect this level of clarity from a projector. (I also received a Darbee that I bought here and had just attached that - don't know if that made a difference?)

And I know there are many bass-o-philes here and maybe I'm a wimp but I had the bass turned up all the way and had to turn it down for Pacific Rim! And I only have 1 SW.

Still waiting on the chairs - got held up in Illinois and should be here Wed or Thur.
