Comm wire in now installed for Graffik eye......

Been waiting since last year to bring back electrician to finish up once I was done with coffers. I could have done wiring myself but this one is not on me due to finishing electrical specs from new construction.

Now what to do for automation......have a few ideas but am willing to hear what others think.......

BTW,

Is anyone else having problems with vbulletin on iPhone?

For me to change pages I have to pound the page number key repeatedly not to mention refresh button to move from page to page. Quite annoying.......once or twice I've hit page key double digits to advance. And the wait time to move to advance to another page or to post reply is quite long..........just wondering if it's my network.

Thanks for the sincere complements avtexan! Hope I did you proud!

Considering I was planning on traditional coffers last year, but with this recent Atmos rage.......well it forced me to re-think my goals. Good thing I didn't work through the Winter...........just needed a break. Worked for the better waiting until I could focus on one project.........

Big reveal tonight with friends......looking forward to their feedback.

Last night get together went extremely well..........both couples now want to go home and use same crown molding in their living rooms..............they absolutely loved stain and had tons of questions on which products, how to build etc. Pulled out scraps and provided details........,,matter of fact, going over my same friends home this afternoon to help him measure and prepare for materials.......

Although one little tiny hiccup........wife of same friend tripped over over this hazard:

Lawsuit, homeowners insurance scare.......but same tiny, scrappy gal got up quickly and laughted it off! Close call!

So, with that incident, I'm done with these tripping incidences........I've ordered two UM-18's this morning and will be building furniture grade end table subs using 5/4" Knotty Alder and UM-18 driver. Was planning to use pair of UXL's, but Mark Seaton has tested UM-18 and has positive remarks regarding stability of driver. Figured I could use drivers for leveling subs........if I have a hard time integrating, I could use subs in greatroom and just drop in UXL's in theater. If subs integrate fine, then win-win situation......

Have to move on to next project!

Thanks for commenting.......and thank you for room complement!

That's a great idea! But originally, EG design had leveling subs in 1st row columns and always planned to place subs there. Since 12 AWG wire is located near location much easier, more entertaining route would be......

Subs!

You are correct sir! I can remember not too far back, I thought two Velodyne DD-12's were enough!

Just back tracking a bit. I've got my eye on these for ceiling use (well in baffle in my case). 120 degree dispersion. Something to mull over, not dissimilar to Rogers Tannoys

Ok......you've sparked my interest! Can you describe what I'm looking at?

Dennis Erskine visits my thread stating, "Exact" match for my system will be announced at CEDIA. I have Roger checking out Triad booth for me to find out what's new at Triad. I have flight tickets booked for Denver................but probably won't attend CEDIA......unfortunately.

Ok, so its a JBL pro ceiling speaker http://jblpro.com/www/products/insta...rol-328c#Specs

The off axis is good, except that little dip (not the end of the earth IMO).

Its shallow 6.3", but you need to put it in a box (either theirs or DIY)

The other thing I am looking at is JBL have a new 3 series studio monitor with their spiffy wave guide. The thing I like about these is the apparent directivity and you can sit really close to them.

As I said, Roger is using the DC6i Tannoy - its 90 degrees, but he's got them on a mount to point it direct at the LP

My understanding is you can buy tickets at the door. Is this not the case I had thought about going, good buddy owns a av company and talked about it. But doesn't work out work wise. Damn job gets in the way of the hobby it pays for!

What Roger is using won't fit in my ceiling. He suggested using in-wall version and build my own backer boxes with angled baffle. I believe 0.7 cf backer box for Tannoy concentric driver. Seems internal volume is close with JBL.

Thanks again for heads up....,

Main reason swaying my decision to purchase flight tickets was an invite to AVS Dolby demo.........since that offer is no longer viable, not worth the hassle due to tight schedule.

But thanks for trying to problem-solve.

Tough question......

There are three parts,

1) Crown on soffit acting like diffuser
2) 5" broadband absorption in front bay......
3) 6-1/2" 2D diffuser in second bay

If you put all three together.......yes, most definitely an improvement in room. I went over measurements from past and compared to present. Some midrange peaks have been tamed and room overall sounds much better. I can play system much louder for longer periods.......decay in room must be getting close to ideal. I have to send pink noise file to ACS in Eugene for final evaluation.

Jeff Meyers will come to room next June and calibrate audio/video. Hopefully by then I'll be settled on items for Atmos. I should have Lab Gruppen amps coming soon and will have to sell 4 amps!

Sound in room is effortless.....smooth......having a conversation with door shut is great.....clear! Not so much in our great room with all hardwood floors and with so many reflective surfaces.

To answer your question again......yes, inexpensive diffusers and they handle job extremely well!
