I don't recall the carpet pattern you are looking at, but if it is a pattern that requires matching, you have to account for the overlap on the stage to line up the pattern. So, you need enough to cover the entire stage plus pattern overlap (could be anywhere from 6" to18" plus the riser height). And looks to me like there will be a pretty good amount of wastage cutting out for the steps. Remeber, you have to pay for all the carpet to do the job, not just what actually get installed. Now, if you're LUCKY, you'll find an installer that will only charge for the finished square footage...it shouldn''t matter to him if you have to buy an extra 10 yards, or whatever it ends up being.

My guess is that the guys comming up with the short sq footage are not taking everything into account and will probably then try to bump up the estimate. ANd it depndes on the pattern and wheter you can install it the long way or the acrros the room to minimize wastage. I think you'd be better ordering more rather then less and have to try to get more of the same dye lot, etc.

I have been doing a little work on my room. Re-built one of my subs (18" driver) and added a couple more 18's, so I have three 18's right under my curved screen. Subs are rather large. smile.gif I also finally broke down and added seating to my room. I am sure that you are liking your curved screen. I love mine. smile.gif You are going to have a great looking room.

I may have missed it, but do you happen to have a photo showing how you brought both power and low voltage cables into your columns? Did all cables enter the room at one spot and travel in your soffit or did they come through the wall behind each column location?

Hi memmo,
Sorry i have no pics showing the wiring. Before the Columns and drywall was put up. the electrical wiring traveled from the breaker box in the equipment room behind the theater along the ceiling joists and studs. The low voltage travels separately inside a few carlon flex ducts away from the electrical wiring.

The power came through a small hole in the wall hidden in a column location, then a wire was strung inside the soffit connection the other 5 loations. the Low voltage was in conduits to the speaker locations.

Ahhh...........Looks like I'm getting called out. Just because I have a slow progressing build thread doesn't mean that I can't bust on someone else for their slow progress. Logan is a perfect example of this. Just sayin' biggrin.gif

Oh, Vik........making excuses already for the lack of progress? That did not take long at all. Maybe we should have big stop in for some special motivation to get you back on track.
