Ok I have 2 pretty basic questions. I've done some research but honestly my eyes are starting to dry up looking at this computer screen so much lol. When I stud frame my theater do I have the top plates nailed to the ceiling joists? That seems counter productive to me. I don't want any vibration or such going up the walls and in to the room above. I am decoupling the ceiling and doing DD+GG for the ceiling. If not how much of a gap should there be between the top plate and the ceiling joist and should this be acoustically sealed?
Also the stud framing for the outside walls will not be directly on the concrete as I have 2" xps rigid board placed up against the concrete ceiling joist to floor for insulation purposes. Thank you.
Would anyone have a diagram or picture showing how to properly build this, I'm much more a visual learner hehe.
