Most the cables tucked away in cable channels now, the black ones from the downlights still without channel down to the main one, so that's left to do. Bought a few channels too many, got really lucky with the measurements needed for once, so I'll get a few tiny ones for those on the refund. Will have to paint them black too, but in any case it's a great improvement from having those cables lying in a mess on the carpet.

Have scanned all my BluRays with an app called MyMovies, so the risk of buying duplicates should be reduced ( at least when I'm buying them ). Would have been nice if you could play the movies directly from choosing in that system, but I made a calculation of how many TB that would be needing and made myself forget about it again.

Have bought three mattresses - 5" thich polyethen with open cells. 25kg/m³. Will but them on my front dampening walls in front of the insulation. Material isn't completely optimal, but the availability and price difference to the best stuff made them very interesting to us at this point in time.

Won't have much effect of them, though, since the screen is still non-AT.

Might try the spandex route before saving up to the real stuff (Seymour probably).

If you go with the spandex, I'll be very interested in your experience with it. I'm considering it as a starter screen - budget issues.

Issue seems to be to get enough light from first layer. If you do multible you'll fuzz up the picture.

It's not going to happen soonish, I have to investigate and think more about it first. Spandex might even be the wrong word.

I don't know if you're thinking of spandex, but I am. This might be good reading, if you haven't seen it. http://www.avsforum.com/forum/110-di...topics/1454505

One of the goals for the theater now ticked off - I've watched 'Master and Commander' (dvd) at reference level. Sound quality excellent as far as the soundtrack allowed it. Difference between different cannon loads suddenly extremely obvious.

Didn't think to start dB-meter from the start, but even without initial battle, I still had a peak of 112dB in MLP, so that's pretty close to max.

Think I'm more happy in general 10-15 dB down, but it's nice to know ref is possible for this movie (and probably a bit more too), but I'm sure we can find other movies where it won't apply, so please don't bother stating that - I know.

Have re-run the initial scene with me outside the building and even when expecting something it didn't sound much. The door towards my garden is leaking significantly more, so it should actually be able to disturb another neighbour more! But that's expected as the inner door of the 'airlock' isn't there yet. So, I consider this a successful test too.

YEAH!!!!! So all your hard work to kill the sound leaks has paid off. I think it is worth breaking out a dram of the good stuff! I'll have to toast your success from here.

Thanks!

Yes, it feels good. The feeling of worrying when some major bass hits you being disturbing for the surroundings is slowly fading and that's nice.

I may paint the cable channels, but I'm not disturbed by them now, and I'm quite content to stay with the lighting as it is for now. I can definitely to some cleanup on cable lengths and so to, but really I don't feel I need to do or buy anything at the moment, so it's a good finished state.

I do need to push the rack back in the wall, that's probably the most needed thing to do. And clean the machinist room. And keep scanning barcodes of our movies.

Halloween coming up soonish, so some planning for that could be in order.

Remembered an old thread where I had posted about cost distribution, have improved more about it - it's not fully perfect, I know of some things that's missing, but still:

( Primarily it's Other electronics and Paint that would grow once I find that data, but not by very much. )

Upgraded my Sonos system from a "Bridge" to the new "Boost". Seems to have the strength to give a stable feed to my player in the Cinema. Problem only partially solved as I need stable WiFi to control it as well. Plugging an extra wifi router into the Sonos port didn't work, at least not the way I tried it yesterday - couldn't find the sonos devices inside that new network. Should have realized that before trying.

Fixed. Small Netgear access point connected to the Sonos instead. Works fine now.
