I thought it was time to start my thread on my home theater I am building in the ground floor level of my home. I have always wanted a theater so when I bought my house a couple of years ago I scoped out spaces for one in the houses I looked at to purchase.

I found a house with a tandem garage setup that I thought would be perfect for creating a home theater. I imagined it in numerous configurations.

I finally settled on the layout (180 degrees from above) with the screen on the opposite wall.

I utilized Dennis' services for a layout and this is what my plans look like:

This is the color scheme that I am going after, minus the sconces on the wall and lighted movie posters.

More to come....

Looks like a great project. Are you underway already, or in the prepping stages? If underway, then bring on more pics! smile.gif

I ended up knocking out the closed in the room titled Den and will make it my 2channel listening room with room treatment.

I will have my Magnepan 1.6s modifed by Peter Gunn into Magnestand speakers the first quarter of the year.
Along with my Rega RP6 I just bought for analog duty. Have not decided on tube preamp/amp yet.

Here are some in construction pics. I did go double drywall and green glue so we will see how this holds. Ran conduit in the ceiling with two HDMI and two Cat6 cables to the projector.

I will be keeping the electronics in a storage room. I will utilize a very high end rack for this (Home Depot, lol)...

Above is the Onkyo 818.

DirevTV Genie, router and battery backup in place.

The riser and stage were built using examples from here at AVS. This is before the carpet went in...

I messed up here as I should have went 12 in wider with the riser so I have to use Rocker chairs in the back row instead of recliners.

I painted before the carpet so now I have some touch up to do....

I am currently trying to install my projector. Since I am using a Prismasonic Anamorphic Lens, want it to be "spot on" so I am contracting this out.

Also need to mount my surround speaker and screen.... More to Come!!!

Well picked up a Ipad mini for the Roomie remote duties. I hope a picked the correct Ipad based remote for my system.

It will do double duty for the music server and the home theater.

Now if I can get the damn projector/lens/screen installed I would be on my way.

One company cancelled 2 days before the Superbowl on me....

No I used OC703 after talking with some people on here and elsewhere. We will see how it turns out.

Well in order to make progress, I decided to hire a company to finish the rest of the project. I found a company here in WA that knew exactly what I wanted and went to work to cure my procrastination.

Their address is below:
http://www.theaterdesignnw.com
Theater Design Northwest

Here are some updated pics...

The updated screen wall with the B&Ws and Power Sound XS30s installed. Bottom and side panels installed

The Screen Excellence screen without the fabric in yet.

I couldn't tell from your layout what your room dimensions were. I like the three/two seat arrangement, makes the sides seem a lot more spacious. I'm using B&W in my room as well, though I might use Goldenear's stuff for my surrounds instead of the B&W inwalls. Are you using the CWM 7.5 for your surrounds, or the CT to go with your CTs? Love the color scheme as well, the whole room looks great.

Its a small room, about 11 x 17.5. The screen wall takes 2 feet.

I actually decided to go 2 recliners in front and 4 Movie Theater rockers in the back to maximize the back row.

Yes, I am using (4) 7.5s for surrounds. I liked the B&W sound when I was demoing.
I also was going to use Goldenear all around but didn't like it as much as the B&Ws. I was going to do three Triton towers and their bookshelves as surrounds.

Thanks for the compliments.

Well they installed the projector and surrounds. have to do a little more tweaking on anamorphic to get it nailed.

My Lumagen 2021 should be here tomorrow so I can learn Calmanv5 to calibrate.

Those surrounds are huge, I underestimated their size.

Looking good. So did you go for a larger screen than Dennis recommended?

....just that the initial layout had the L and R forward of the screen, just wondering why you changed it?

Edit: (I see you used someone else to finish, wondering why?)

Just used the layout service for the initial design to see if what I wanted would fit.

I went with a bigger screen because I wanted to make sure I had an immersive feeling, I think I got that.
