Ok...so hopefully this will  make sense.

I have a dedicated theater in a open concept basement...yes I know, not ideal...but to me, it has worked out pretty cool

Issue I have now is that I really wanted to paint the "undersides" of the soffits a dark color to contain light from the screen.  The room has 100% light control and can be perfectly black during a movie.

However, as you can see the soffits from the theater transition to the bar area and that ceiling needs to be white...any idea how to make that transition look like I planned it, or am I just worried for nothing and if I leave all the under sides of the soffits white, no big deal.

Any ideas are welcome...and thanks in advance!

I'd just paint the bottom and theater side of that soffit between the two areas black as well. Then do the other side and the bar area white.

I think that that would look fine.

Edit: After looking at your pictures again I see that you mean the back soffit that goes through both spaces. I agree with BIG, dress it up with some molding.

Nothing says I planned this more than a piece of some kind of molding as the dividing line.

Good news is you all agree with me, that having the bottom of those soffits white would take away from the theater room.

i will see what I can come up with molding wise...
