I know this is going to make me sound cheap, but hey, I AM! Has anyone ever took some extremely thick insulation, like R38 ish (12" thick), and torn it into thinner pieces, like R19 thickness? Menards has some thick insulation on sale, and if I could manage to split it up, it would save me a lot. It seems like it should be fairly easy to tear it, since it is basically layered along that direction anyway. I'm going to be loosely stuffing it in my ceiling for sound absorption.
Chronic health problems be damned, I'm gonna save a few bucks! Lol
