I was going to suggest taking a look at JTR speakers. I have looked at a LOT of different options and had settled on the idea of getting Ascend Acoustics Sierra towers with the matching center. Then I really started to read into the JTR thread. Jeff at JTR makes some pretty great speakers which have very high sensitivity which are great for HT use and they are not bright like some other brands. I'm only suggesting it because there's a used LCR set up in the classifieds for a really great price. Kevin is selling his 2010 models which have been upgraded to the 2012 crossovers for $1900.
They aren't the prettiest speaker but for their price they'll knock your socks off. I read the entire 240+ page thread and there was even a couple guys that have switched over from Klipsch Ultra2 set ups and said they would never go back after getting the JTR's.

Those seem like great speakers, if I had built a screen wall I would have gone with something like that. But I need in-walls for my setup and I'm not seeing any options for that on JTR's website.

Oh I see, I thought you were going to have a false wall and hide everything behind it for some reason. The only option they have that would possibly work would be the Triple 8HT-LP low profile speakers that can be wall mounted....lol talk about profiling, but I only suggested them to you because you have a PSA sub so I know you can appreciate a good ID brand.

I definitely appreciate the suggestions smile.gif Ideally I would have had a screen wall, but with this space and it being the first theater I just decided to get the most amount of space for the length of the room and stuff an extra huge AT screen with in-wall speakers behind it cool.gif

We shall see how the sound turns out, some say in-walls are less than ideal compared to towers, I'm sure to my untrained ear whatever in-walls I end up with will sound amazing compared to my 15yr old Paradigm spakers that are in my loft setup.

Just saw your thread! Wow, fast work so far.

I am also in Colorado (Stapleton). I just began framing myself. I wish you the best of luck.

Here's this weekend's project

Tile 1-1/2 baths and a wet bar area. About 130 sq. ft. total for all 3 areas.

Here's the latest pics of the progress. Got the tile put down over the weekend and did grout yesterday. My contractor has most of the doors hung and trim up. Painter's come tomorrow and carpet should be getting installed in about 2 weeks.

Thanks eRob, we're really happy with how our design has turned out so far. The painters should be done at the beginning of the week so I'll have some updated pics afterwards.

Fantastic build man with a open layout similar to my future plans! You have mentioned the Width of the theater but I didn't catch the length? Did I miss it? Lots of progress in a short time for sure and look forward to the quality finish and your Bar planning! Anything drawn up yet? Jim

Hey Jim, the length of the theater is a little over 24'

I have a 3D rendering of the cabinets for the bar area, I'll scan it in when I get home this evening. Our cabinets should be showing up at the end of this week. So I might be able to get some of them installed over the weekend. We are planning to just do granite tile for the countertops, this will match what is existing in our kitchen.

Here's the 3D render of the wet bar area.

We'll see how the actual setup matches this on Friday!

A lot has happened in the last week.

Here is how the bar area turned out. I'd say it's pretty spot on with the rendering smile.gif

The bar top, it's a little over 12' long (You don't even know how glad I am to finally be done with the wet saw)

Picked up a few pieces of gear late this afternoon cool.gif

Some updated shots of the theater...now with paint and scones!!!! We're really happy with how the color turned out, it's exactly what we were going for

Carpet is getting installed on Monday, so I'm pretty excited about having a ton less dust around the house once that's done. My seats shipped on the 19th so they should be getting installed not too long after the carpet, then the painters come back and do the touchups and this basement should be wrapped up in just around 2 months time.

Looks awesome!

What component rack did you go with? I'm debating between purchasing a rack such as that or just building one in the wall, recessed back into my mechanical room.

It's the Sanus CFR2144

It comes with a TON of accessories which makes it a really great deal and quite a bit less than any similar MA rack.

It was actually pretty easy to get downstairs after taking the sides and doors off too.

Nice color! Willing to give the name and brand of paint you used for that?

I'm still trying to convince the wife to let me do something similar instead of a white ceiling. Maybe your picture will be what it takes to convince her. smile.gif

Here's the paint and carpet samples. The actual paint used was Kwal that was color matched to these. The samples were from Lowes of Valspar brand paint. The Aspen Gray was eggshell finish and the Rogue Blue is flat. The carpet is from Home Depot.

It's almost ready to use!!!!

Seats got delivered today, took a gamble on 4seating.com and the transaction went really smooth and the seats were in amazing shape, they are the Lane 160's.

Jamestown Screen frame somewhat assembled, going to finish it tomorrow when I have some help to tension it.
