I decided to take the plunge and post my basement build...I've been hiding in the "dark" and reading all of the great basement builds and finally came around to posting. I feel like such an amateur when compared to all of the amazing basement builds. I do have to say that my build isn't to build a pro quality theater design--but rather a plan to balance theater with a functional (but fun) basement. Also, the biggest reason so that my growing to daughters has a place to hang out (single father). The plan started a few months ago and I've managed to pull off the blanket insulation and upgrade to XPS rigid insulation. I've posted the beginning of the project. Like most of us, the project will be a slow one due to work, kids, etc...

Focusing on the "theater" piece of this project....I still haven't decided on the most important item: projector or 70+" TV and

More pics of the insulation....

Hello and welcome to the madness.

Part of the inspiration for my basement space was for my two boys to hang out and have their buddies over. On the single parent thing, while I'm not one I have the utmost respect for all single parents. I know how hard it is with two of us, so doing everything could easily get overwhelming.

What will help us the most is some more info on your space, more pictures, diagrams, sketches, room dimensions etc. There are many here who love to help. I will tell you right now, scrap the TV and go projector. Now that is settled we can start focusing on the other stuff. biggrin.gif

You have now joined the rest of us on this maddening journey we call home theater. Oh, and coming here will cause your life/build never to be the same. Ignorance in the HT sense truly is bliss (and a whole lot cheaper).

Regards,

RTROSE

Enjoying my "almost done" theater.
