I realized I need to come up with a full plan for how I'm going to attack the light tray design before I continue. I may end up having to use MDF instead of drywall, so don't want to go too far.
My build is at about the same spot. I'm figuring out how to build a 3-4" light tray before I cover mt soffits. I'd prefer to use 1/2" drywall to cover the soffits. That would minimize weight hanging from the clips and channel. But, I'm not sure how to support all the stuff that will go in the tray (LED strip, black lights) plus the crown molding.
What ideas are you considering? Anything other that going the MDF route?
