So...some good news, and some bad (but mostly good biggrin.gif)

As advised; before I go about killing my buzzing nuisances...I layered-up, and tried to find the source of my invaders. Too cold here last night; they were long gone. But I'll keep trying.

However, going up into the HT today...I definitely had more a sense of can-do, than can-don't. Miss my HT, and the positives are starting to dance in my head; more-so than the problems.

As such...if I'm really getting down to business; while it's not sexy, one of the first projects probably has to do with the "adjacent" space (can we just start calling this the "storage area"?).

As I've mentioned; we've got the ceiling joists from our Bedroom...jutting up into that space.

Rather than have that just be dead, unusable space; I want to create some much-needed storage area from it. Probably just needs to be "squared-off", like this...right? All I want to be able to do, is store boxes...up on top of it (as we've previously talked about, that area would mostly be used for). I could probably even do something like this myself; seems to be about the easiest of DIY projects (and...it saves a few hunny against the re-model budget; and...gets boxes the hell off the riser, so I can't start to envision that space empty).

If it were me, I'd just do some 2x4 framing and MDF. My only concern; that top "shelf" will span about 11'. Do I need more bracing, than just the ends...to keep it from sagging in the middle? Not sure how to address that. Thanks

Depending on how heavy the boxes are that you plan to put up there, I'd probably just build a "floor" with 2x6's spaced on 16" centers, then put some 1/2" decking on top. something cheap like OSB rather than MDF. If you want to make it a little sturdier, then you could go up to 3/4" ply, but I don't think it's necessary unless you're planning to put some pretty heavy stuff up there, and then you'll need to look at the framing a little closer as well.

^^^^^^^^Agreed. Boxing it in (or squaring it off) would be pretty easy IMO and would actually be a benefit to the "storage area" FKA the adjacent space. biggrin.gif

Glad to hear that you are being infected with a more positive outlook. Attitudes can be contagious so glad to hear that you are "catching" a better one.

Ha...got back-burnered; while I took on the pet-project of re-vamping my lawn RT.

I'll be back soon. I've actually reached-out to my GC; but he hasn't responded in a few days.
