My family and I are moving in a couple weeks and I we will be renovating an existing home theater in the house. Our current house has a home theater which was small but unforgettable......"the eagles nest".

Our new house has a bonus room above the double garage.

Front wall

Rear wall

Renovation has begun.....
Rear wall

Closer look at rear wall...rated 55 db.

Front wall....little trim painting started

Gear list....
Procella P610 LCR
Procella P6 for surrounds
Procella P15 subwoofer

JVC X35 Projector
Intega DHC 80.2 processor
Sherbourne 7 x 350 watt amplifier
Emotiva UPA 1 x 200 watt amplifier
Xilica DSP
Svanå AD 20, AD40, and Wing acoustic treatment
Invaluable resources: Pär Hörnell of Tiwia of and Anders and Gerben of Procella Audio.

Background:
My old Home theater room was amazing and consisted of Procella P6 all around and a P15. Panasonic AE4000 PJ as well. Pär (and his team...Jöcke...Micke..) and Procella Audio made the dream of an Eagle's Nest become a reality.

Hopes:
New room will be BETTER!

Will try to keep the thread updated with pics and progress when I can, but I am suer busy just now with the move just 2 weeks away. More to come.

Looks like a great space.  What are the dimensions of the room?  How do you plan to address the windows?

love the profile name - right there with ya...

I know we're off topic as you are looking at a new space but I just love the way the walls lay out visually with the curtain look and the sconces - that really speaks home theater to me.

The window will get Isover Piano insulation board in the recess and then black cloth flush with the wall. The screen pulls down and covers the window area also.

The black fabric I have for the walls, ceiling and floor is this. Color....you guessed it....black!

My stack of Procella is a touch bigger than yours tongue.gif .....but I am sooooooo jealous of that Procella P15 subwoofer!!! Maybe someday I'll bite the bullet, but the budget for such a luxury escapes me at the moment....

I am subscribed and will be following along!

I have three P610's for the front speakers and then six P6's for the surrounds (two pairs of sides and one pair of rears). Bass will be handled by two DIY subwoofers where I will attempt to get as close as I can to two Procella P18 subwoofers. So technically a 7.2 system that just happens to have an extra pair of sides (one pair of sides per row of seating) to get to a 9.2 speaker system.

Photo of the biggest stack of Procella I could find. This is over a year ago. Now that warehouse is bursting out of it's seams...

You know there is some speaker love when the focus of the home theater isn't the build/specs of the room, but rather jumping right to stacks of boxes. And, excellent boxes they are! smile.gif

Cheers,

Ha ha ha ha! Sorry, couldn't resist. I bet you that some of those P6 and P15 that you see in those pics are now in your home cinemas, the time of those pics is about 1-2 years ago...

Sweet, good luck on the build out smile.gif

In case anyone in the SF Bay Area wants to hear what these Procella's can do we have a demo room with P610 LCRs, P6 surrounds and P10 subs. Fully acoustically treated, Seymour 4K screen, SIM2 projector. Pretty sweet!

Varies, currently a Nero which to be honest is a little underpowered for the screen (12ftL). If only everyone could afford a Lumis that's all I would sell. One word: flawless.

Dead tired.....crazy week with many late nights getting ready for the move this Saturday. I did steal a little time and adjust the shelves in my AV rack make space for the new gear (Sherbourne 7 x 350 and Xilica DSP). Also snapped a few pics. The room is really dark, so pics look pretty bad....but anyway...

Also got a 16 amp circuit run to the back of the room. So now the room has a dedicated 16 and a 10 that it shares with a guest room and a closet.

I love the black cave thing you have going on there and Kudos to making theater progress while moving!!! Very impressive.

What are you planning on using for absorption?

Just a few Svanå 25 mm and 50 mm absorbers at the first reflections on side walls...dead end live end concept as per Pär. FYI, I have a carpenter that has built the wall and a painter that painted.

Very promising theater! Congrats! You really need a bigger screen though in my opinion smile.gif

Any reason you have been recommended the dead-end live-end concept? I actually thought that with speakers like the Procellas (with smooth off-axis response) first reflection points could be diffused for even greater sound stage.

I will have to start with this screen and see what the future holds and budget. I can't answer your question about absorption. I don't know.
