Have to move two supply hvac floor vents and moving a return from floor to new soffit above projector. Plan is to make some register boots out of MDF and line with linacoustic RC.

MDF seems to disintegrate a bit in the screw hole when I screw it to 2x6's for my stage curve, but the head of the screw holds the mdf well enough against the 2x6. If I screw MDF into MDF to make a rectangular boot, will it hold together?

Thanks in advance

If you predrill and use approriate screws, like these, you should be fine. Otherwise you are likely to have trouble.

My boots are made from MDF. I didn't use any screws. Just wood glue and a few brads to hold it together while it dried. The glue is stronger than the wood.
