I couldn't find much information about this through a forum search. I don't know if this is the best forum to pose the question, but here it is.
I am planning on using a pair of Fantech FG6XL fans to ventilate my room. Is there any reason why one of the Lutron Maestro IR Fan Speed Controls (http://www.lutron.com/en-US/Products/Pages/StandAloneControls/FanControls/MaestroIR/Overview.aspx) wouldn't work in this application.
Secondarily, is there any reason why these Lutron controls couldn't be controlled with iRule via a Global Cache IP2IR interface and a couple of IR emitters?

Did you ever find an answer to your question?
I contacted Lutron about this and this is what they told me:
To whom it may concern,
The Maestro IR fan control is made for a 3 speed ceiling fan. We cannot guaranty performance on a duct fan.
