I wasn't sure where to pot this, so I decided to stick it in the construction forum.

I just received some custom shelves for my MA rack.  I didn't realize that they are not the full depth of the rack and don't have any rear supports/mounts.  I guess I can see them supporting smaller/lighter 2U equipment like a dvd player, but are the front supports (4 screws through the ears) all that is needed for something much heavier like a 4U receiver or amp?

Which shelf and which AVR?

Ordered shelves big enough for Marantz AV8801, but temporarily putting my Onkyo 616 on it (didn't want to have to buy new shelves in the near future).  The Marantz is pretty heavy, but the shelf has no rear supports of any kind.  MA said it is the correct shelf.

I'm not as worried about the Onkyo, but I want to correct it now if it is the wrong shelf, or if I need to do something different.

I just ordered a zero unit rack shelf for my Evo 403.............supposedly has four attachments and can use custom face plates. The Evo is a beast.............hopefully it will support the amp.

Ordered from Mike at AVS and was best price..............I too ordered the Marantz 8801 along with matching custom faceplate and rack shelf. Will see how it works out when delivered.

The AV 8801 only weighs 30 lbs. A front mounted rack shelf will be totally adequate for that. Not to worry.
