So.... just to be clear to the dense folks (like me), if we burn this DL DVD format and play it in our BluRay players..... will we be seeing 1080p video out? I have a newer high end model Panny player and didn't know that it would do that (if it will) Thanks

Not everyone knows that AVCHD is actually the format used by bluray players, it's what is recorded on bluray discs, which simply have the nth degree of space on them. But the actual medium does not have to be a bluray disc, it simply needs to be a recordable digital disc. Even regular recordables will work, they just won't have all the space on them of a bluray disc.

Right, Leo and Michael?

Sort of.

"At the file system level, the structure of AVCHD is derived from the Blu-ray Disc specification, but is not identical to it."

Somehow when I am running the index.bdmv file using Potplayer/VLC/Gom Player on my computer, I cannot hear the sound when the disc starts. I can hear the THX logo though.

Also, if I run individual m2ts files using Gom Player, it runs fine. Any suggestions ?

I even tried using software Aurora Blu-ray Player. But same result, the sound just does not come. It comes only for few seconds until the THX logo is displayed.

Unfortunately, I am unfamiliar with the software you are using, and you don't say anything about your hardware.

This folder should play just like a regular blu-ray disc, so whatever software you use to watch a BD should be able to play this.

If it needs to "look" like a disc, you may need to convert it to an iso file (ImgBurn) and mount it to a virtual disc.

BTW, there is no sound until the clips play. ;)

Thanks for the response. I tried to run these files using my Laptop. I have other Blu-Ray files which play fine. Its only this disc which has issues. But I will try to play these files from my Sony Blu-Ray BDP-5100 player and let you know the results.

This folder should look just like the others you have that "play fine." Does it?

Officially, no. Copyright issues. But I'm sure someone in the club will, out of gratitude for you're telling him about it, be happy to make a copy for you, too.

Otherwise, join another club.
