So what is your reaction when you walk into your theater hours or even a day after last watching something and the projector was left on? Freak out, quietly curse or eh whatever

I go "Aww, MAN!" and deal with it.

My projector's lamp is rated at 1500 hours which I believe is around average. The lamps are $500 or so each so they're not CHEAP but leaving it on for an extra 24 hours? Meh... fewer than 2% of the hours burned by accident I can live with.

If it's a repeated problem that can be blamed on someone in particular then I'll get frustrated, sure. If it's ME because I fell asleep (um... passed out) down there and left the thing on all night? Hmm...

Of course if you want to get fiduciary about it, that's $3 an hour so that's almost $75 for a night's mistake. If you're that worried about that then maybe charging for tickets is in order. biggrin.gif

I set the shutdown timer on my projector to stop this from happening after the kids had been using the projector to light their stage productions wink.gif

That's about the cost of the six pack that made you fall asleep in the first place, so it's a $16 mistake.

This had come up recently and I don't recall really seeing any answer about how the bulb is actually affected.

I left my Panny 4K on for a week once but the bulb is actually OFF, so does that REALLY affect the bulb life? The counter went up, but the bulb wasn't on.

But to answer the OP's original question, I got a free replacement bulb with my projector, so I don't worry about it. By the time I go through TWO bulbs, I'll be ready to upgrade. (And MAYBE the basement will be complete by then!)

I think I need to check for a setting to turn it off automatically. My kids were leaving it on daily and one is old enough to turn it off but if she isn't there the you younger leaves it on. Is guess 12 hours a week it's left on. I'm always like "oh man!!!!" The theater isn't close to done yet and I imagine myself traveling closer to the day what I need to put the $500 into the bulb and not the theater. I think once the theater is done ill be ok with the purchase but not yet! Lol!
