I'm building a soffit around the main support beam running along and below the basement HT ceiling.
In regards to sound proofing - Is it better to build the box (w/ double dry wall + Green Glue) close to the bottom of the beam or to leave some space and fill the space with R-13 insulation?
Also if it's fine w/o the insulation - I'd prefer that b/c the ceiling is already way low, and I REALLY don't want to take more off, aside from having to bend down while entering it'll force me to move the screen down.

thx
