I left on Sunday and did a consult in Atlanta on Monday. On Sunday I only had road issues for first 10 miles then the highways were wide open. But windy. So I beat the storm.

Good thing...DC is shut down. I am not complaining as I get the day off.

Same here! These pansies that run DC shut down the entire metro area for an inch or two of snow. In NY (where I'm from), an inch or two of snow just means you won't forget your hat as you walk out the door. Nothing else changes.

That being said, I get the day off!

I've said it before, but in Alabama there's one plow..... for the whole state..... and no one has seen the keys since sometime in the mid 70's. They start shutting down around here if the weatherman even threatens snow or ice.

BTW, I hope I get to meet BIG while he's down this way.

Well things started moving a lot faster today with the theater for some reason. Maybe it had something to do with Jeff coming into town?

I wish I could take a 2 month vacation from work to be here to help out but then I wouldn't be able to afford a theater.

Jeff got most of the Serenity mat down today and we are going to get the rest of the 3/4 top layer of ply down tomorrow. I just got finished with a little work and am headed to do my small homework assignment. Looking forward to seeing this thing come together!

We will need another set of hands with the fiber ceiling. You are more than welcome to come over then.

In Southeast Texas, if bridges get ice, things start shutting down. No need for actual snow. Happened a few times last January/February. Of course it probably only snows down here once every 7-10 years so we suck at dealing with cold weather. This year it's barely been cold at all. We've had upper 60's and low 70's for a good part of the last 4 weeks.

Of course, when it's 100 degrees, 90% humidity and it hasn't rained in 6 weeks, people are shopping and eating out all over the place. I guess pansies come in all different shapes and sizes.

You can come by whenever you want! We just finished getting part of the top layer on the subfloor and getting back at it this afternoon. If you are serious we could knock that ceiling out real quick between all of us and my wife.

That would be awesome! I will give you at least a week's notice. We can make it a mini meet. I will certainly return the favor when you need another set of hands.

Some pictures of the project. Day one was prep, laid down some protection from the front door to the theater, this room was dry-walled by the builder and sits on the first floor, so we will be bringing all materials in through a finished home, installed a dust shield of sorts on the door, two overlapping pieces of plastic. Prepped the floor, scraped up some odds and ends on the floor and vacuumed. Glued the 1/2 inch Serenity mat to to the floor. Today we got 1/2 the room sub-floor floated on the rubber (with glue) before mid-day break and later today hope to get the other half down. There are a few screws in the pictures but they will come out after the glue dries.

notice the builder installed surface mounted outlets to avoid holes in the wall and to get a final completion inspection on the room, a single ceiling light on a switch was also required for inspection. floors were painted.

the room is a perfect box 24-4 x 16-8, nothing in the way for a change. 9 ft ceilings

Jeff just left and we have most of the dimensions worked out for the room. I am really digging some of his ideas and design. He is going to get started on the soffit tomorrow. I have to work all day but I will be around all weekend so hopefully we can make some good progress. I will be sure to post a lot of updates in the coming days. I couldn't do this without Jeff.

Today we got started at 8:00 and finished up around 6:30. It was a great day and I really had a good time and learned some good stuff. We are getting some help from fellow AVSer beyond tomorrow. On the menu for tomorrow is getting the bottom of the soffits finished up.

Here is the room when we first started this morning.

First thing we did was chalk the coffered ceiling layout.

Then we started making the inside framing for the soffit.

Jeff making sure things were on track.

Probably my favorite one of the day.

Inside soffit framing done.

Jeff's circle jig made for the duct cut ins.

My contribution to this picture was the clamps. I have lots and lots of clamps.

Here are some shots of where we finished up tonight.
