After painting my ceiling five times I finally found the paint that is extremely black ,flat as all get out and leaves no roller marks. The rollermarks were the killer for me. No matter what I did I could not eliminate them with any other paint. The company Rose Brand has it .

Honestly, if you are looking for the best paint for this purpose don't waste your time. It is a little more expensive but the Rosco Supersaturated velour is the way to go.

I have some first hand experince with that paint. A client sprayed his ceiling and it was a beautiful black, it was also over everything else in the room and 3 weeks later we were still fighting the black dust menace that haunted the room as we assembled his screen.

On a side note you could do a reasonable job of correcting smudge marks with a micro fiber cloth.
