Hi all

Is there a screen calculator? I don't know the how big of a size of screen I could have. I'd like the optimal size.

I know that my, to be built, home theater room, will be 13ft wide. My first sofa could be 10 ft to the center and that the backend of the second rised sofa could be 17ft.

dont know if i will have a false wall, as i dont understand its purpose.

height, well, right now, from concrete floor to floor joist, its 93".

i'd probably buy the Epson 5030UB when ready to buy a projector...

but i thought i needed to play for screen size first and foremost.

yes, width and height. that graphic is based on a 2:35:1 format screen Bottom line shoot for a 45 degree field of view. First timers should get their projector and shine it on a wall and decide what size they like.

My suggestion..........................throw out the calculators and find out your preferred viewing distance at local  theater.

Easy to measure screen width, distance and then find where you feel most comfortable viewing from.  I found out 1.0 to 1.2 screen width is my preference..................you might be much different ie. 2.0 or 2.5 screen width.

Calculators are helpful to get you started in ballpark............but going to local theater and measuring your preferred seating distance in relationship to screen width might give you a better idea.

I sit 12.5 ft from a 12 ft 2.37 screen and love it.................yet someone else might prefer sitting further away.  Do your due diligence...................

I'm 138" from a 130" scope and love it except for extreme motion--I think 125" would be perfect for the first row.

I'm with Big......hang a sheet and put a couple of folding chairs at your seating locations. Contrary to popular belief, there IS such a thing as too big, but it's up to you when you reach that point.
