Thought I would add some build pictures. 2 lb mass loaded vinyl on floor plus sound board, gg and 1/2" osb. Double layer of 1/2" drywall with GG between.

First ever dedicated room.

Nice room. Looks like you put some effort into soundproofing, which those of us who did not, envy. smile.gif
Difficult to tell from the pictures but looks like you could benefit from a few more absorptive panels...and maybe pull those beautiful left and right main speakers away from the side walls a little.

I sort of stumbled upon your thread. If you plan on sticking around AVSForum for a little while always a good idea to add a link to your build in your signature.

Thanks for the kind comments. Had to put some time in sound proofing due to theater is upstairs above master bedroom and next door to daughters room. Yes I am considering adding some more acoustic treatments and I will try your suggestion of moving right and left more towards screen edge. Also I will figure out how to add a signiture.

I moved right and left to about 12" from screen edge. Seems to be a cleaner front sound. Thanks for the suggestion!

Glad moving the speakers helped a bit.

I believe to add the build link to your signature open your build thread, copy the WWW. address in your browser top line, then on your profile go into "Edit Signature". It will open up an edit window. In the icons above is the symbol of a linked chain. Click on it to insert a link then just paste into the URL box.
I think that should do it. It has been a while.
Had my theater build linked for awhile but I'm in the process of changing things so deleted the thread.

Enjoy your new theater. My family uses ours daily.

First shipment of acoustic panels came in. Treated wall behind curtains and center channel. Also first reflections on side. Sound is already improved with 12 more to come. Eventually I will make frames and cover with fabric.

Added some more acoustic treatments, think it really cleaned up the sound. Need to run another REW test.

Definitely interested to see what measureable difference the panels make in the room!

Hello... What kind of chairs do you have?

Also, is that a portable type heater in the front? How well does that work?

Thanks,

Kevin

I put poly fill in my 3 sub tonight. Made a big difference by ear. I will run REW and compare to original test. But initially have to say much tighter bass! For the $4 I went, I think it was a cheap improvement.

Can anyone help with this waterfall? Before I put poly fill in the 3 subs, I was only getting 20hz. This shows 10hz, bass sounds pretty even to me, but look at graph.

Any thoughts appreciated.

My son and I just did some sampling with the following; sabaton bluray, u571 depth charge scene and Blackhawk down " Irene ". Bass is so much better with the poly fill in the 3 subs! Chairs are moving and sound is clean!

So, when I built riser I didn't know about adding vents. I did fill bays with insulation though. Tonight I cut 1 3/4 holes along back wall as a test. Big difference in the diffusion. Now I will get vents and cut bigger areas out. But right now I can tell the difference. Need to rerun REW and see if it helped. Also a few weeks ago I added acoustic panels as a cloud to center of ceiling and that has seemed to tighten up the sound.

Nice theater, what do vents in the riser do?

Thanks, it's our modest theater
Basically turns riser into a big diffuser from what I have read. Need to run REW to see if it did flatten out base. But from what my ear is telling me, it did. Everything sound crisp and clean. Lows don't seem quite as muddy.
