So where did everyone find the best deals on carpet for their theaters? I know most folks pay $6/sq ft and get Stanton or Kane but I am trying to avoid that. I love the look of it I just don't see myself paying $4K on carpet. I am fine going with some stainmaster high grade solid color if need be but wanted to see what everyone else recommends. Did you have better luck ordering online after seeing the carpet in person locally? Did you just go to Lowe's or HD and order it? What tips do you have?

I waited for Menards to have a sale on some kind of frieze that my wife liked for most of the theater. For the stage I waited until after the auto show in Detroit and went to the place that supplies all of the carpet pieces for the show. They sold me a remnant of black for dirt cheap.

Just make sure when you're carpet shopping for deals that you get the full quoted install price for your expected square footage. I've run into cases where the price / sqft was great - but then the "minimum install" thresholds kicked in when only trying to do one room, and when added to the sale price, was no longer a deal. Ask those questions up front instead of getting surprised by that when they come to measure prior to installing... I bailed on one because of that.

Is the carpet going into a basement? If so you want a 9 oz underpad and minimum 55 oz carpet. This will give you the warmth needed and if in a basement make sure you have a sub floor such as dry core.

Got mine from Lowes, i have an 11 ft X 27Ft theater, installed $2K and that was on sale. Had to be made in Georgia and sent to Lowes and installed in hour and half, Lowes sent an inspector to make sure i was satisfied.
