Smile Looking for Ideas or Changes??

I'm really new to the HT scene but I love the movies and would love to get as close as possible on my limited space/budget to the movies! Just looking for any advise you guys might have to make this setup a little better. I know I want to tint/ shade the skylights and maybe get a better door curtain. other than that, I'm open to ideas.

Thanks!

Receiver: Pioneer vsx-816
HTPC: HP computer with ATI Graphics card
TV: LG 55 LM6700 with Ambilight/boblight
Speakers: Energy Take Classic 5.1

I just realized that this is in the dedicated theater design.... maybe we could move it to general home theater?

Thanks!

Check out what Edgar did with his room. I would suggest doing something like this.

Thanks Johnny! I really like what Edgar did with his room.

the more I look at builds on here (and believe me I've been lookin!) The smaller my tv feels and the more I want a projector....

How practical would it be to just get rid of the tv altogether and run a projector? How practical with the skylights I have?

I haven't gotten around to it but I am looking to make some really good shades for the skylights as well.

I think that'll be the first step to making it seem more Home theater and less Home living room with a "small" tv.

I was digging through the before and after pic thread and there is alot of good stuff on there!

Does it seem practical to put a screen above that mantle that I have and just move the speaker placement of the center speaker? Or should I look into getting rid of the mantle and doing a screen lower?

Heres a few shots at night with the ambilight.

Man, it seems so small compared to the projectors and screens.......

You could do a 2.35 screen above the mantle, but I'd be more inclined to remove it. As you are probably aware, with projectors, you want to control as much ambient light as possible to get the best picture/contrast. A black wall around the screen is important and if possible 3'+ along the side walls and ceiling to stop reflections. What are the dimensions of your room? Depending on the length, it may determine the size of the screen you can have. What is your budget?
