Single layer of 5/8" drywall or 2 layers of 1/2"
I am not doing sound isolation in my room as it won't be cost effective for me...or space effective. Some of the walls for my room are already drywalled with 1/2". I talked to my contractor about taking it down and putting up 5/8" to give it a little more mass to help a bit. He said he would just do a 2nd layer of 1/2" with green glue. I said that would be pretty expensive, but I guess he was talking about an adhesive that is green, not the CLD green glue.
So, would doing 2 layers of 1/2" be better? And would there be much reason for that glue over screws?
