Are you talking about the Green Glue *SEALANT* vs. Franklin's sealant? They seem to be about the same price.

If you're trying to compare Green Clue (the soundproofing compound, not the sealant) to a sealant - they are totally different products - do NOT use a sealant as the dampening compound between drywall sheets!

Ok, just to be clear then - the Green Glue compound is not the same as a sealant, so do NOT use that Franklin product for those last two tubes.

If that $45 is the killer - use slightly less compound per sheet to stretch your 12 tubes. But also - did you check pricing with thesoundproofingcompany? (I assume you're getting the case via Amazon currently - note that someone offers a half-case for $100 - a better deal than 2@$45 and you can sell the extras on craigslist)

If you have a Menards home center anywhere near you, you can get them for $14.69 each. I think they are currently running a 11% off everything through mail in rebate deal.. so you would be at $157 a case plus tax. Plus you can buy individual tubes.. no need for case by case purchase

I order green glue by picking up th phone and talking to Ted or John at Soundproofingcompany.com . You can't order via a click of the button, they like to talk to you. Many times they have told people to don't bother their plans weren't sufficient to achieve their goal. Like just doing one wall, or doing just the ceiling. Or not using isolation methods.

14 tubes is enough for 7 sheets of drywall, you must be doing just a ceiling.
