So I've taken a bit of a hiatus from posting on AVS mostly because I haven't been doing much work on the theater, but also because I've been lazy.
No, I've actually been working on a ton of other projects like finishing all the wiring in the house, cleaning up the server room, installing a new IP phone system, installing outdoor cameras. I've also been working on installing an aftermarket autopilot system on my "classic" Tesla Model S. So I've been busy!
So there has been some work done on the theater since my last report (over 6 months ago!!):
- All the high and low voltage wiring is done
- Insulation in the interior walls is done
- Roxul insulation in the ceiling is started (almost done)
- Ceiling speaker boxes are built and installed
The next steps are to finish the insulation in the ceiling (I'm putting 2+ layers of Roxul everywhere), and then I'll get started on drywall to actually start closing up the room.
Here are some pictures of where things are right now:
First of all, reasons for distraction:
The server room all tidied up.
The inside of a 2013 Tesla's frunk (lots going on in there -- had to tap into the steering control system)
The beginnings of a ceiling speaker box for Atmos.
Some cut up pieces of MDF to build boxes with.
The three big boxes lined with acoustic foam.
Another foam pic -- and a pic of the IP phones I installed.
Speaker box with the cover on.
Two of the speaker boxes installed in the ceiling.
The jig we set up to hang the speaker in place and then use the acoustic clips to hold it in place.
All four boxes hanging permanently. One small one (no room cuz of HVAC piping).
A box with Roxul all around -- I think this room'll be pretty sound-proof and not much will escape.
A shot of the current status of the room.
Another look at current status of the room.
Some of the low-voltage LED wiring that runs all over the room (will all be DMX controlled).
That's all for now, folks!
