Acoustic treatment behind screen wall?

I've seen quite a few builds here (almost all) where those who have false walls with their speakers/subwoofers behind, I see either black panels or black foam looking boards screwed to the walls. Can you really tell a difference between having no acoustic panels and having them behind screen wall? If so, what are some good options for doing this?

It may not be your job, but perhaps it's your opportunity.

the main reason to do it:

I used two layers of Linacoustic with 3mil plastic between layers.

I studied up on this during my build, and intended to use acoustic foam tiles on the wall behind the L-C-R speakers.

But once all the speakers were setup and I had a listen, they sounded so good I saw no need to add anything.

Maybe I don't have a refined ear I may add some someday, but for now, it's just painted drywall behind.

When I built my theater I had my speakers set up playing tunes and they sounded good, as I started to add my treatments first to the area behind the screen wall and then the side walls they sounded better and better. I could have stopped with good, but now I have better.
