I'm interested and can provide the scenes from

1. Apollo 13- "lift off" Scene 13 (35:12)
9. Titan AE- "ice field" Chapter 16 (1:03:45 & 1:04:55)
12. Jurassic Park- "Glass Ripples" - I have III, not I

What about adding the astroid field scene from SW ATOC as well?

ok, for all of you wanting one of Clarence's discs I made 5 tonight (from the newest version) and I will send them out to the first 5 people that PM me. There are no labels and they are Philips DVD+R discs. Nothing fancy, just a great demo disc from Clarence and GetGray.

I hope to do 5 more in a couple of days and I will let everyone know then.

OK, the first round is spoken for, I will let you all know when round two comes.

As for content, my take on it is the high impact stuff to demo one's LFE in particular would be preferable. And preferences would be for shorter scenes, or clips from longer sequences. Otherwise not much variety will fit on a 4.x Gb DVD. I'd say picking from the range of LF tracks. One with really low stuff, others with mid-low stuff, another with higer lows, etc.
Roger that, you have PM. Gotcha on the clips, I keep forgeting that these are single layer discs. I'll keep my eye and ears out for sutable material.

GetGray,

I know I just mailed unbreakable, but it is a very subtle thing and not an exciting clip- maybe leave that one off the list to make more room for more impressive clips.

Hi,

I'm in the process of setting up my HT (3-4 weeks to go!), and I'd love to have a copy of the original demo disc as well as the forthing coming LFE disc.

I'd really like to get the original, so I'll watch the thread to know when copies of it are being sent out again. I still have a couple of movies on the disc to acquire. I'll also be happy to donate to the effort. I could also make copies of the disc for others, and I have DVD cases... but I don't have DVD labels (disc or case).

Thanks!

Well if you don't want to rattle people out of their chairs right out of the gate, start with the last race in Seabiscuit and take it to the end. Very emotional with good system show-off capabilities. Chapter 4 of O'Brother Where Art Thou begins with funny dialogue and gradually builds to the choir entering the forest and surrounding both the characters in the film and you the viewer in sound. Now you've earned some crashboombang leeway. The opening scenes of both Toy Story 2 and Ice Age are great. The speeder chase in Star Wars Episode II: AOTC (chapter 7) is a good show-off of bass power, surround steering, and color saturation and black level. The cliche'd final show-off of system power is the depth charge scene in U-571.

Just went through this thread for the third or fourth time (this is probably my favorite thread so far, since the ide of a HT is less about how you build it or equipent, and more about what you use it for). Anyway, I figured I would make a listing of the things people posted to see which ones I really liked and try to keep a listing handy for when I want to show off different things.

Anyway, I tried to put everything in the list that I came across (without duplicating). I will try to attach the excel file also (donno if it will take xls files), so you can add to it if you like.

There are a couple things I didn't add, but have kept listed in my file for important info (for instance, GetGray's Making Menus info (post #192), Clarence's "how to" info (post #94), and a time-referenced list (post #187))

Some suggestions didn't have 'full' info (i.e. missing the scene or the full movie name), but I put what I found. The excel also puts in a little info about what people thought were the key reasons for using these scenes.

Don't know if this list is helpful to others, but it sure was fun getting all of your suggestions in one place and looking at them together:

Ok..enough of the obligatory groveling. ;)

These discs sound AWESOME.

I have a suggestion though, how about instead of one person burning and posting these all over the world, somebody hosts the iso so we can download and burn our own? Or use a p2p like the torrent network?

In the meantime, would anyone(possibly in Australia) who has a copy of the original like to send me one? :)

Smegger, thats a great idea!

Jonnio offered to send me a copy, but I kind of wanted to wait for the LFE disc as well, hoping to get both in one shipment (I live in Norway). Once its ready, if someone would be graceous enough to ship to Norway (I'll pay for cost and trouble through PayPal in advance) I will host the .iso files on a server and set up priority download to anyone here interested. Should not take to long for those with half-decent internet access.

How is the LFE disc coming along anyways?

For those of you waiting for the copy I promised I need to apologize. I got really busy with work last week and couldn't make it to the post office. They are sitting here ready to go though, so if all goes well you will get them by the end of the week.

THE HAUNTING Ch. 10 [00:37:45 - 00:40:45]

If you put your suggestions in this format, it will help get the discs out MUCH faster. One of the most time consuming tasks in making a DEMO disc is actually finding where the clip is. I know everyone has a few of their favorite LFE scenes in mind, so just list the movie, the chapter, and then the exact time in hours, minutes, and seconds where the clip is located.

And, for anyone who has some of the DVD's in that BIG LIST and has some time, please go through the ones you have and locate where the good LFE's are, and post them in this thread. Feel free to add clips that aren't already in the list that you feel would make a great LFE Demo.

Latntekky,

I don't think anyone has put it on a torrent site yetl There has been talk of posting it, but I think people are waiting for the second disk to get finished and then posting both.

Once I get one of the DVDs, and can put it up on a torrent, I will post it to get a couple seeds on line...my upload connection is average for cable, but with seven or eight people, it should go faster (fifty or sixty would be even better). My guess is that it will be done by someone else long before I have the chance to do it.

I'm sure if you check the post regularly, you will find the addy for the torrent site(s). Everyone says the dvd is great, so I know there are a lot of people who are interested in getting it (Kudos to those that participated in making it).

Have you rounded up all the clips? I would love to help out. I have most of the ones you were looking for. Let me know. Still trying to obtain one of these. Is Clarence back to making them? Anyone? Please let me know if you have a copy you would be willing to copy for me. I posted back in Nov trying to get a hold of one. You guys rock!

Bud, your copy is in the mail.

Guys, please don't PM everyone that is saying they are sending these out so that whoever gets to it first will send you one. That isn't fair to everyone on the forum.

I think everyone that PM'd me has got a copy in the mail and you should see it in the next couple of days. I am sorry it took so long.

Here is another idea you guys can maybe add onto the end of your demo DVD, as it si audio only,
actually, i am suprised that not many people mention this site and the stuff they create, i think it is great.

Swedish Multichannel audio clips (DTS and DD)

A few i'd highly recommend: (these are mainly all the ones in English)

The Run
The Banff Demo
The Norway Demo (DTS-ES)
Electronics for Begginers
The History of Sound
The Car Chase !!! (Personal Favourite)
Prix Europa Opening Concert (this is music, in fact a WHOLE concert, excellent)

If you love surround sound, and a good bit of bass, and you also have high speed internet connection, try to download the lot, some of the surround mixes are amazing it's just you can't understand what they are saying :)

Whats more, anyone can download these, all you need to do is burn them as an audio disc on a CD/DVD and bang, your away.
I think those 7 track I mentioned would go nicely on the Demo DVD you guys are producing :)

I'd ask for a copy, but somehow i don't think the shipping costs would be to good :)

nice thread by the way

Cheers
KJ
