Just a preview to let you know this thread isn't going to be just about sheds for the rest of this year. HT2.0 has begun.

out of the box it will look like this:

Hey, hey, hey.... you can't just show us a pic of Planar box and not mention what exactly is in it.

Give us some details, looking foward to see the development of 2.0.

Very nice, I guess I posted a little to soon. Just before you got to post the pic of it. I started googling planar 1080p and came accross 8120, 8130 & 8150. I figured you went for the 8150. Now, I'm sure you wanna test it out and all but you know what they say, don't keep it up or you'll be replacing the bulb before you know it. Congrats.

In time of course

I'm thinking of building Wayne Parham's Pi4 speakers as part of the front redo.

Also need a new pre-amp.

Hey Big!

I was just wondering if you were going to get the basic kit for the Pi4's or go with the upgrades? I was looking at these not to long ago.

cheers

I figure if you are going to go to the effort you might as well go full speed. So the upgraded drivers and at least the capacitors.

I'm planning a basic black cabinet with behind the screen lighting (like the Sandman's)

for those following the thread not familiar with the Pi's: Those are 15 inch woofers.

It never ends. I haven't even finished 1.0 and I have my 2.0 list started. The only way I will ever be able to "finish" 1.0 is to define what 1.0 is and list other stuff on the 2.0 list.

Man, that took longer than I thought it would...

Yes I know, Last week I just missed buying a steam generator on Craig's list by a couple of hours. $1500 new never installed unit for $150.

Somehow with 4 other bathrooms in the house, finishing the one in basement doesn't have a sense of urgency.

Back to the Shed....Roof truss factory

First a 1/4 scale drawing of 1/2 of the roof. It is 10 ft 11 inches wide and has a 31.5 height (or 28 to the bottom of the 2x4s)

take the angle directly from the drawing

Set the saw

cut

check to see if it comes out to the right length Remember the length is the square root of the sum of the squares of the other two sides of the triangle.

Then figure the filler over the eave using the drawing full scale

then a joiner for securing the filler to the truss (they sell metal mending plates but they are a buck each and I have all this scrap lumber so lumber it is)

then the joiner for the peak

a whole bunch of these:

and these:

set stops on top of the deck floor

put in the pieces

use a 13 inch piece to locate the 6 ft cross piece

a few hours later

one

later many

Make sure that two only have the joiners on one side because the other side gets sheathed. Also they don't need the cross piece.

those look great. funny, I love math, but never got into engineering. To figure all that out, man, it is beyond me now, I just cant think straight like that. Now I keep buried in a computer. I am glad I hired my shed out, I would have gone mad making those, I guess having the right tools helps too.

I know lowes also now has something where you can order custom trusses, although I have no clue as to pricing.

I made jigs and stops for all the repetitive cuts. Basically once it is set up you just load the new piece of wood without measuring and in a few minutes you have 20 of something.

and I use the templates to set up all the equipment.

setting up the stops for the filler pieces

As for ordering custom trusses. My DIY cost was $7.06 a truss. Plus scrap lumber and 2 inch galvanized crown staples I already had.

Hey Big, we need to find you a DIY shed building forum - then you can be famous in three different forums.

Those trusses look good, and thanks for the pictures. I know it takes longer when you have to stop and snap a pic while you are working.

OK, either I'm psychic or you must have mentioned somewhere here in AVS that you frequent the HTGuide DIY speaker section. I would have bet money that I saw postings by you over there on my build thread. Now that I check you don't even your ID registered.
