Woah!! Gonzo, I cant believe it's been a year since the previous post.

For next gen. DIY screen fabric you can check out Seymourav.com they will sell you their Center Stage XD material. It has a tighter weave than the original phifer material which had been used by them and many DIY'ers.

You'll really appreciate the 4000. I went from a 900 to the 4000, and it was uncomparable! 1500 hours later and the 4000 is still making me say WOW!

I'm using mine with the SeymourAV XD material. I think it's the only option for the DIY crowd in an AT screen. But I've been out of touch with that forum for a year myself.

Looking forward to the photos.

Gonzo,

SeymourAV Center Stage XD material here too. I built my screen a little over a year ago.

Clearly, I'm a man of action - just give me a few minutes to think about it.

Thanks guys. I requested a sample today. I had a sample from Seymour back when I built my smx diy screen. It was very hard to tell the difference between the two. Do you guys know if the center stage is different than the phifer product that Seymour used to sell?

^^^ not quite sure what that means.

But anyway. I received the panasonic 4000U today and put it up. I took a couple of screen shots because I knew I would not be able to tell a difference otherwise.

Here is the 1000U images followed by the 4000U image:

I need to check that but it is fairly new. I suspect it is under 150 hours. I bought a new one when it started shutting off on me, because the manual said it would start shutting off when the bulb life was about up. Turns out that it had the "sticky iris" problem which causes it to shut off every couple of minutes for the first 15 minutes you have it on.

Brit, I broke the ladder out yesterday to change the projectors!

I'm surprised by the photos. The 1000 is a much better performer than the 900 was. When I changed over it was like going from VHS to BR.

kyoto7, mine got heated too!

The pics say a lot then!! Very nice upgrade. I wouldn't want to see comparison shots between my Epson HC400 and the 1000!! Can't even imagine the shame the 4000. would put it to

So mbgonzomd, did you move forward with a new screen yet? 2:35 or 2:40?

To be honest there isn't much difference between 2.35, 2.39 and 2.4. Bluerays come labeled with all three and they rarely accurate.

Not yet. I played around with the projector a little. To go 2.4 I will need to move the pj back about 3-4 feet, so I set it up on top of my ladder at the back of the room and messed with the lens memory. I feel like I need to do some more reading before I start tearing things apart (eg, I read that to use the zoom/lens memory technique the lens can be no higher than the top of the screen, which means I would need a new mount).

Lol. Hey w00lly!

Not much has changed in my basement. My brother on the other hand has recently bought a new house and had a ht installed. It was almost done when I took these pics.
