Looking at different color schemes for my HT and wanted to get some feedback on doing a dark brown screen wall with lighter brown walls.

I found a brown speaker cloth at PE which I like.

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=260-339

I wanted to do a lighter say "coffee with cream" color on the walls and ceiling. The same speaker cloth from PE for the acoustical panels. Then a lighter tan colored carpet with dark brown chairs.

Has anyone had any experience with a brown HT like I am proposing? Any pictures anywhere to show me what the heck this is going to look like?

You might want to take a look at The Farm House Cinema . This might be the color scheme you are looking for. I know Eric's home theaters (this is his third!) have been an inspiration for me!

Good Luck!

That's amazing. When I looked at his fabric color, I thought of the Farm House Cinema too. I think that gives a great idea of what to expect. Brown is a good color for theaters because it's warm, neutral and inviting and doesn't compete with colors on screen. You might consider going with Black on the backround of the screen wall however. Personally, I've found that it draws you into the movie more and I like that a lot.

The guys over at Cinematech Seating have a few theater designs with brown and tan colors you might like to look at.

Our HT has a brown color scheme, primarily because we didn't want to replace the newer carpet (it's a newer home) so we designed the room to match. We used two colors: one for the side walls (incl. front&back) and one for the angled and flat ceiling. For the side walls we went with a flat, dark brown. Looks black when lights are out. For the ceiling, we went with a color called "Colonial Grey" which is a more muted, drab, cup of coffee, brown.

When it was first going up, we weren't too sure. Now, as we are putting on the finishing touches (which takes forever), it was the perfect choice. We want our room to also serve as a fancier guestroom/sitting room when it's not movie time and these rich/dark/brown colors serve that well.

Ahh, as soon as I hit submit, I knew I'd be asked for some pics.

The room isn't finished, but I'll take a few overall shots that will show the colors.

I am working on my small theater which uses kelly moore arcyplex flat raw earth (ceiling, front wall, soffit), copper moon (sides and rear) and pristine linen (oil-based) trims/door. I have coffee color recliners and african ebony rockets rs760s. With some brown gikacoustics wall treatments

So you are using camouflage brown and battleship gray..
Good choices !

I hope to use brown, desert, and black for the screen wall. All of course GOM colors.

I went with a primarily brown scheme and I'm very happy with it. See the link in my sig for more pics.

Yeah, I was too distracted by the reminder that I need some updated pictures that showed the G90 instead of the Marquee that was in the old pics above.

Here are some updated pics. I like this one because I think it accurately shows how the dark colors look.

But if I crank up the lights, you can also see the bar for the 3rd row (really just a countertop with DVD storage space underneath) that I built during the New Year's holiday...

Crane,
Sorry for the lengthy delay. With the Holidays, guests, entertaining, it slipped my mind! Here are the shots you requested of our brown color scheme. The room isn't finished, but this may give you a good idea of yet another brown room.

My theater is predominantly brown.

My next addition will probably be an area rug to tame some of the acoustics bouncing off the maple floor
