There is NO way I would ever have scarlet in my theater. It's Burgundy! If my wife would have let me, it would been Maize and Blue my friend.

I am looking forward to the game next week. I'll be there...!

Now that I'm finished with the screen wall, I guess I'll trow some photos into the mix.

BTW- there are some seriously impressive theaters and screen walls in this thread!!

Before the screen was mounted:

Great job!

What type of screen and what fabric did you use to surround the screen? It looks like a perfect blend from the frame fabric

Went with the Seymour AV Centerstage XD AT material. Since the screen is AT and speakers are behind the screen and subs will be elsewhere in the room, I was able to use fabric that is not completely AT - so I used microvelvet - same as what was used for the screen frame.

What is everyone putting on their screen wall for acoustics?

Looks like OC in the corners as traps, but what is directly behind the screen?

It's a painful, long read. But it has the answer. I wish someone would condense it. It's almost too big to be of any use. Need a cliff notes version:

Many people, myself included, have put 2" rigid fiberglass or linacoustic on the back wall. I'm still not sure how necessary this is, but it seems to be commonly done and is very easy to do because it's hidden.

It's also muddied by fanatical debate on the theory and the scientific background.

Its quite annoying really I personally have three science degrees and none of my collegues would disagree with each other as on as many fundamental principles as those "experts" found in that thread. They all quote papers as though they wrote them and understand them for that matter......

Focus on the low hanging fruit, there really should be a separate thread so that they can have that thread to babble on about their theories which is all I ever seem to glean from that thread.

Don't waste time reading signatures.....

Not to continue off-topic much longer but there is one expert there I have the highest regard for. Erskine. If for no other reason, I believe he has more commercially engaged HT experience than the others put together. He's also on the board at CEDIA and has an extremly strong background in the industry. Not to say the others are to be discounted by any means, but if I had to pick one to listen to, he's got good credentials. FWIW, I think he says 2" on the front wall is usually too much. Depends on the room details though.

I forgot about Bryan Pape. I've seen him participate and help a lot of folks on this and other forums. People appear to be happy with his work.

There is a very real and potential problem with over-dampening a room (especially the first reflections) and killing the natural, enveloping sound stage created by the original recording and the speakers themselves.

Some panel manufacturers are trying to limit that with their newest designs.

I believe Denise Erskine has talked about trying to find a happy balance.

Listen up, studios! Just say "NO" to DNR and EE!!

What a nice theater. I like the ceiling color, not too dark, but still very rich looking and dark enough to help limit reflections. Just read your build thread. Did you go with the Ralph Lauren Suede series? If so what color is it?

The ceiling is a flat brown from SW, (painted so long ago I don't remember the name of the shade) I liked it when the wife first chose it, however l dont feel it blends well with the color I dyed the wood. I had planned on repainting it earlier, but decided to put it off until I built the center piece for the ceiling.. (phase 2)

Here's our 2.35:1 set-up, this gear is late 2007/early 2008 stuff, still works and paid for
(Maybe 2014 "update-itis" for 3D might hit in...)
Projector: Sony VPL-VW60
Anamorphic Lens
: Panamorph UH380, mounted on DIY manual slide.
Screen
: DIY 130" diag 2.35:1 curved screen
Masking
: DIY Manual for 16:9, HT V2 will incorporate some power masking

View of 130" scope screen, manual 16:9 masks are stored below center speaker when not used as seen here:
(Panorama stitching via CS5 made the ceiling acoustic clouds looked curved, they are flat...)

View of rear:

View of DIY a-lens slide:

The walls are dark green with ceiling dark brown, since we live in a loghome I tried to keep the nature theme going in the HT.
Used stained pine for baseboard and acoustic treatments.

Those are screen shots from Ruben's thread and as such makes me believe it's LED blue rope light. He's the one that gave me the idea to use it in my HT. I think the last place I ordered from was birddog.com. Make sure you get the LED flavor and not the incandescent. The LED version will last longer and use less electricity, although it will cost more up front.
