Well seeing that I'll only have my current setup for another five days because we sold our house I guess I better post a couple pics to show that it even existed....lol

First pic is with the masking panels in place and second one without, oh and by the way I friggin love my Falcon Vision Horizon screen! It's the FVS115 and it's the exact same screen I'll be putting into my new room eventually.

Has anyone found a good hi-reflectivity paint, (paints with greater than 1.5 response)?
Any experience as to the practicality of painting without image surface defects?

Wilsonart is nice but 1.1 to 1.2 could be a lot better. Maybe even silver if the colors are close to right.

I wish I could afford to move to Whistler Cory!....lol

Yeah this was our first home and when we had our third child last September we just out grew the house. Bigger house but smaller theater room
The new place has a media room but it's the dreaded square room.....lol
It's 15x15 with 9 foot ceilings. I think I'll be hiring the experts to help out with the acoustic design for this room.

Adding my 2cents to this thread

Completed room around March 2015. Screen retracts into sofit revealing recessed 60" monitor used in lieu of screen (navigating music collection, playing Xbox1 95% of the time, YouTube from bluray....)

Screen wall is acoustically treated. Pic is casting a blue tone to the HTPC backdrop. The image is basically black with a subtle blue fringe-glow from the edges....apparently my camera interprets that to mean the whole thing is cast in blue. Wut-ev

I hope asking a question is not hijacking this thread. I plan on creating one of these false walls. My question is does the raised stage section need to come out that far or is that for aesthetics?

Gear: Denon AVR-X3200W; Chane A5rx-c Main L/R, Chane A2rx-c center; Elemental Design A5-350 Subwoofer; Panasonic PT-AE8000U; MOnoprice Surrounds; Screen skimmed, waiting to be painted

The raised stage can come out an inch or two, or several feet. Or not even be exposed.
It's all been done before.

My AT wall is beneath a soffit, and my sand filled stage is completely behind the AT wall,
so there's no evidence of a stage at all. That was very much an aesthetics choice.

Somebody finally used my patented screen size calculator:
  1. Measure the width of your room
  2. Deduct 8" total width to account for your screen frame
  3. Multiply this number by 2
  4. Divide by 2
  5. Order the screen.

@av8terguy : Do you have any other pics of the build process and/or how you hung the screen and the cover panels you built? The look I'm trying to achieve is similar to what you've done, except that I need to make removable panels at the left/right ends of the wall to access equipment and a mechanical room. Thanks for sharing whatever you have.

My attempt: Result- I'm Happy.

Project demo and reconstruct in Dec. 2014 - Jan.2015. Next step is to make it look cooler. But now it's very functional with a door and access to behind all the speakers and equipment.

My attempt: Result- I'm Happy.2

Next the reconstruct. My goal was to get an acoustically dead front. I used 2x4s suspended 2" away from the cement walls with batting (paper side facing the inner wall) and landscape fiber to hold it in place. Next was a 2x4 drop from ceiling with more batting and acoustic foam in between the lower 2x4s. The framework is all open (no enclosures) except the custom main speaker stands and rack bases. Those were filled with sand. I can tell you my voice is very quiet back there and it almost feels as if I have my ears plugged.
Obviously my next phase is to tackle the rest of the room's acoustics, it's appearance and the color on the walls. I just don't know what color to go with, but I got 6 gallons waiting. Any recommendations?
