92" DIY screen in what is probably the complete opposite of a dedicated room

I just put the speakers up -- still need to run the wires behind the wall.

Before GOM, etc.

Attachment 105078

After GOM, but before stage carpet.

Attachment 105079

Just finishing now--so will have more pics of totally finished to come.

This is some hobby, eh?! (more like a magnificent obsession...)

BTW, how do I get the pics to show up in the post, rather than just as links?

DC_Pilgrim gave me this link recently to a thread that explains how you can get your pics to show up in the post when I was looking to do the same thing. Hope this helps.

Still need to paint the speakers, front wall, and ceiling black. The color of the walls isn't that yellow in real life - it's much more tan.

There are some awesome looking theaters in this thread. Here's my modest one:

It's a 106" Elite screen paired with an Epson 1080UB projector.

Boy my HSU Ventriloquist speakers look embarrassingly small. But they sound great!

BTW I now have drapes up so you can actually watch the screen in the daytime.

More pics in the link in my sig.

Looks great, great space. Consider some acoustic treatment, and I think you'll be very happy with the results.

Hi Scott,

The center channel mount is only temporary for now. I plan to build a new one that can angle it more properly. Also, the mains are pointed directly at the center spot in the front row - I was merely setting them up for testing. I still have a lot of tweaking to do in my room as well as acoustical treatments so it's far from finished (don't we all say that?).

Thanks,
Dave

Hey Johnathan--nice room! I like the diagonal walls above your dropped crown. How tall are your ceilings? And what kind of surface is that above the crown on the diagonal/ceiling?

What equipment are you running?

I'm getting geared-up to re-do my multi-use room, any advice from someone whose just come that way?

Also, did you have any WAF factors in your acoustic treatment plans?

Thanks,
Phil

I am currently under construction of a very similiar home theater to the one you have built. I will be running two SVS passive cylinder subwoofers that look similiar to what you have in your system. My questions are:
1.Are the two subwoofers pictured SVS?
2.How easy/hard was two subs to integrate into your system?
I appreciate any help you can offer me.

Almost done. Just need to build a mini stage for under the AV rack. L/R Subs stay on the concrete floor as I don't want the stage to shake.

Very simple compared to others' posted on this site. But, all the acoustic treatments on the front wall are very effective as I used a similar setup in my previous home. Center channel is behind the acoustic screen, as is a whole lot of acoustic foam that I glued to the wall.

Yes, those are SVS subwoofers. I love them. I had the room acoustically modeled by Terry Montlick before I built the room and he recommended that the subwoofers be placed at 1/3 spacing along the front wall. I also have extensive sound treatment throughout the room. The subwoofers integrate perfectly with the rest of the sound system. I'd do the subwoofers again in a heart-beat if I were doing it again.
