Sorry about the busted URL. I'm not allowed to post URL's yet. I might be a spammer.

Looks like it got posted to YouTube from the blog post on hackedgadgets.com... I also have the original video file posted on my first post in this thread if you want the full 24MB .avi file.

I purposely removed the sound. It was meant to be video only. I decided to skip the witty commentary.

I got the posters off eBay and the frames from here:

The posters are all 27x39.

So what happened to the details on the curtains you are using to cover your sliding glass door? One day we were talking about your crappy tint job () and then some time later they magically appeared.

What type did you go with, is there a mechanizm to open or do you just pull on them... and do they block all the light?

Mine is wider (9') and on the back wall which would reflect more on the screen but I have been wondering what to buy. Also considering a shadow box over the top.

One day we are both happily building along and the next you have a video production of a nearly complete theater while I am still looking at bare concrete. What the *&%^&$ happened?

At least you can do is allow me to draft. Have to pick up speed somehow...

Man, that took longer than I thought it would...

The curtains were 'Black out' curtains from Bed Bath and Beyond... $40 for the set I believe. They advertise them as blocking 95% of the light, so in conjunction with the tint, they work well and hide the sloppy tint job.

The curtains actually went in a day or two after the carpet. They are just manual pull open with the bar mounted as close to the ceiling as possible. I'll take pictures from six different angles when I get a chance.

I personally am going to need 9 angles to fully appreciate their installation....

Jamis,

Couple of questions on reading your thread
looks like your bar is attached to your riser- correct? Riser dimensions?
What is your stage size? How much room did you leave behind screen for speakers- sorrry if I missed that?
You also talked about a "2 by" method from BIG to build the curve on the stage- how?

This should help for the riser:

The stage is about 27" deep on the straight portions from the back wall to the edge of the flooring (including 2" overhang). At the widest (center of the curve) it's about 37" deep total. There is about 18.25" of room behind the screen wall for speakers/sub. Tight, but it worked.

How I built the curve:

1. Ripped a piece of 8' OSB to the height of the stage when set on it's edge (same as a 2x6)

2. Cut a piece of 2x6 lumber to about 8" long, and screwed it to the center of the stage.

3. Screwed the OSB (at it's center) to the end of the 2x6 that is sticking out from the front of the stage

4. Bent the OSB into the stage on each end and screwed it to the stage.

5. Cut additional pieces of blocking to fit between the OSB and stage and screwed them to the front of the stage and through the OSB. This gives the OSB it's support.

Welp... it's been fun a fun year.

In that time, I've figured out all the things that I wish I had originally done and now I'm finally motivated to do it.

Theater 2.0.

Here is the plan:

1. Pull out the drywall and redo it with DD/GG/hat all around.

2. rip out the ceiling in the theater area... star ceiling.

3. Ditch the AE3000... RS20 + lens on motorized sled.

4. Upgrade to a curved SMX screen. Anyone want to buy a ProLine?

5. Clear floor (remove carpet, riser, bar, etc). Dig out the first 14' of the theater and lower the floor by 2 feet.

6. Rebuild the riser at about the 21' foot mark, put row 2 on the natural floor and row three on the riser. Bar will be towards the very back of the room at the 28 foot mark.

7. Soda fountain in the kitchenette.

I think that covers it. I'll post a new sketchup later.

A few additional plans:

8. MDF colums... 6 in total. 2 on each side and two in the back.

9. Sconces on the columns

10. Fully voice automation (researching).

Man- you beat me to it. I was going to say that I already have an SMX screen, but will be looking to purchase an AE3000!

Also, I don't think that #10 will do so well in a theater environment. I couldn't imagine having to say fast-forward, pause, etc.

I was thinking more for the lighting, automated shades on the door, etc...

Although, a 'potty emergency!!' voice command that would pause, raise lights in theater and kitchenette, and put the seats in upright position could come in handy...

I just can't decide if the front row should be another set of berklines or a hot tub. Sinking the floor two feet should be more than enough.
