When running a speaker wire from one side of drywall to the other, what is the best way to do it?

Seems to me that using a connector of some sort would be a bad idea-- the less connections, the better, right? But a wire sticking out of the wall seems odd, too.

Thanks!

You can also get a blank face plate for an inwall electrical box and cut a hole in the plate just the right size for the wire to stick out and minimize any extra connections.

I guess it depends on what your trying to accomplish.

Will the speaker wire be hidden behind a speaker or will it be out in the open?

You could take a low voltage box and a regular plate and run the wire straight through that way.

If it is in plain sight I would probably just break the wire and put a nice connection on it.

Mine drops from the ceiling (via 2" conduit) into the AV room.
