For example, projectorcentral.com projection calculator

With your design, have you considered hiding your speakers behind the screen? With a perforated PJ screen you could have an even larger screen size in the same space... and it would be much like being in a cinema.

Another thing to consider: position your center and front side speakers at about the same height - as close to the primary listener's ear height as is practical.

I hear what you are sayin'! Thank you for the link! I would love to have the drop down screen as an option covering the plasma.. Budget wise, I don't think I can do both. Thank you for the audio tip as well.

So many good ideas, so little budget. Trying to sort through all the many options.

Thanks again

All speaker boxes are now complete. Sealed and insulated
Speaker cables have been run. (Carol 14g 2 conductor) I ran cable for 7.1, even though I will be running a 5.1 system.

Remaining:

HVAC ductwork
Gas line to garage for future heater (needs to run through theater room) - Completed
Insulation
Drywall

Once the above is completed, I then can move on to other areas in the basement.

Nothing really.. been busy with other things lately, plus the Flu is going around the family, etc.

Just working on finishing the electrical in the rest of the basement. The Theater room is all roughed (ready for insulation and drywall).

How about yourself? Looks like you were in warp speed for some time there..

same here, things slowed down a bit but are moving again now. Was able to get some friends to come by and help rough in the pipes for a bathroom, sink, and will be doing the wet bar plumbing this week. After that, just need to run cable and then I have the drywall.

Hope the family feels better.

Subscribed to the thread. It's similar to mine (see signature) except yours is larger room. I'm struggling with 7.1 speaker installation and what to do with doors (french or double).

Looking forward to your progress.

This may end up being a 3-4yr project.... Yes, I am still working on roughing the electrical. An hour here, two hours there. I haven't had much time to work on my own home since I've recently taken my electrical business on full-time.

If you are in need of an electrician and you live in the Lake County, IL area, feel free to contact me.

I recently finished the electrical in the bar area. Now I have the bathroom and the home gym area to finish. I will post pictures before insulation and drywall, I promise.

Take Care.
