No. lol. Your skin is just dry.

The concrete or powder mix always sucks moisture from your skin. Same with any concrete, mortar or grout.

It goes away quickly. Try some hand moisturizer and you'll be fine tomorrow. I don't like gloves for small jobs, I'm an idiot like that.

I did this wall on the outside bathroom last year: (no gloves)

no... lol. Far from it. The bathroom was put into half of an old tool shed. It's amazing what some tile, some brickwork and some siding can do wink.gif

Honestly I know the reason why no one has outside bathrooms. It's not really cost, it's the PITA of running sewer. That's the hardest part easily. A toilet, Vanity and sink and some tile from Home Depot is well withing the budget of any middle class person, but paying someone to run a sewer line across the yard probably is not.

We did it ourselves. I rented a trencher from a local rental place, dug the trench and laid the PVC pipe myself. Tied it into the house sewer line. It was not the easiest project from a physical labor stand point, but the actual cost was not much at all. It's much like the patio stone. We did a pretty large patio stone- and paying someone to do it would have cost a fortune. Things are not out of reach if you have time and ambition in excess, even if the checkbook is small.

No actually now that you say this. None. The pic I took is this year (we put it in May 2012) and we never clean it. It get's used for outdoor parties, and when we are outside. It's more as a changing room by the pool, and it has some storage for towels and stuff. I use it to wash my hands more than anything when I am doing projects.

Not sure why there is no bugs- but there is not any. There is lots of bugs in the pool though. Not sure why they love to die in the pool- but a entire basket worth almost daily. The bathroom door is shut most of the time, that probably helps.

There have been several movies where snakes crawl through the pipes and end up in the toilet. I think about this once a year, when using the facilities.

With an outdoor facility I would be very terrified!!!

Lol. We do have some snakes but the harmless garden variety. I can't say I have ever sat down on that toilet though... Not myself anyways eek.gif It's more a toilet for #1 standing up, but I guess it could be used for that too. My wife sits down on it... lol She hates snakes. I will make sure I never mention this to her. She would be terrified at the thought.

Definitely prank her with a fake snake in the toilet, she will have nightmares for the rest of her life.

My mom also has a great fear of snakes, but basically nothing else. I got my dog a fake snake dog toy and my mom really hated it, and it even looked nothing like a real snake (wtf).

For every one you dump there is always someone that can replace her.

Thanks! Actually she dumped me so it's a little different but still applies I guess, haha. Match.com is nonsense, there's always "someone better" right around the corner. I've never dumped anyone in my life, I'm too loyal and never take the easy way out I guess.

You guys with your online dating kill me. Here a tip. Find a dance studio that specializes in ball room dancing. Women out number the men by a wide margin so you're in demand from the get go. This is how I ended up with an NFL cheerleader GF.

Haha. I don't even know how I got here. I'm never in this section of the forums. I was reading the HT of the month thread and I think I clicked on a few links in a few members sigs of their builds and here I am reading elmalloc's amazing build progress. Then it changes to a dating thread. Lol.

It was a good read but I don't how you guys do it. The whole dating thing seems so difficult and confusing to me. This may come as a surprise to you guys, especially you guys, ha, but I have zero dating experience. It always seemed like a task to me. And at 29 I think I'm starting to become jaded. Which is bad. I just was never lucky with women. I mean yeah it bothers me sometimes when I think about it, how I still haven't gotten anywhere and how it takes many, many women to date to figure out who's the right one (and I haven't even started yet), and what about kids and all that but I just shrug it off after awhile.

Thank god I have this HT hobby to keep me busy and happy. All it takes is one movie with a beautiful picture and amazing sound to put me a good mood. I don't have a dedicated theater like you guys, that's my dream to have one in the further hopefully, just a regular room with a Pioneer Kuro and a speaker setup. But it more than does the job.

elmalloc, do you live alone in that house? It must feel great to have that and be able to build many dedicated rooms like that. I can imagine how looks and feels in person. How many girls have been over so far? It must be too easy once they see your house. biggrin.gif

Are you taking any tenants? smile.gif

Converted the dining room (lol) into a gaming room, using an Epson 8350.

Looking at spraying a gray screen wall or purchasing a Screen Innovations Black Diamond/Slate. The projector when tweaked doesn't look horrible in Dynamic mode on a white wall.

If you want to game in the dark, then a white screen will work just fine. If you want to be able to game with some lights on, then the BD or Slate will be much better.

Your place looks nice. As for meeting women, it can happen in the strangest places. I kiddingly tell people I met my wife working on a construction site. About 22 years ago I was an engineer running a construction project. We were building a three story addition onto a school and renovating the rest of the school. The town that we were building this school was a little hick town of 1,200 people. If someone had told me that I was going to meet my wife there, I would have laughed at them. I met one of the teachers there. She was from Louisville Kentucky, but was a first year teacher in this small town. The big joke when I tell people I met her on the construction site is because she is 5'-2" tall and built like a barbie doll. Anything but what you would meet on a construction site. I can still say she is one of the nicest persons that I have ever met. smile.gif We now have a daughter in college and a son in the 8th grade.

I'm thinking of reversing the game room (i.e. the picture in the above post is where the SEATING would be), it would fix many things:
  • Screen will have no ambient light hitting it
  • Allow for 4 seats, centered in room.

Problems I'm facing:
  • Screen Innovations Pure Zero Edge screen will need to hang from the ceiling, how do I mount it with the staircase in the way?
  • How will I have room for my left speaker? It will be in the middle of the walkway. Any suggestions on nice quality compact speakers? There is about 8" of width or less in the left corner of the room (not visible in this picture). It could be mounted in that corner (at the correct height). THOUGHTS?

This would be the front wall:
