I've moved from building my theater to finishing the rest of the space in the basement. I picture a back bar area with a wine cooler, cabinets, etc and a 4 seat semi-circle bar in front of the back bar. The sink would either go in the front bar or against the wall in the back bar. Does anyone have any pictures of a similar setup?

HA! I had just received the panels and I was taking a look. The rolls just happened to be the right height.

we went with something a little different than a traditional bar. You can't see everything in this picture, but you get the idea

Here are photos of my traditional bar.

Back bar area has beer tap, and both a wine cooler and a small fridge.

Bar made of mahogany plywood, trim and a solid 1 inch thick mahagony top.

Here's a few pics of mine. We still have lots of clean up and to get a flat screen mounted on the wall, but you get the idea. It's not the best, but it's my first attempt.

Beautiful pictures, beautiful space. From someone who is working on a theater (not my own-a friends), I wonder:There are a lot of hard, polished items in the room along the bar area. How do you minimize sound reflections? What about buzzing and rattling of dishes etc on the bar shelves from the LFE? I am wondering if that will be a problem in my friends bar, and how I can minimize it.

Is your screen mounted directly in front of the bar? (but behind it, of course...you know what I mean)

Did someone help you with your acoustics?
Just wondered how other do it...
Best,
Tom

I plan on keeping things out to a minimum. There will not be any glass shelves with bottles or glasses except at party time. If I have any rattles in the cabinets I'll put down that rubber shelf liner stuff.

The bar is actually pretty far removed from the screen and the subs. The rest of the room is probably over damped with Linacoustic floor to ceiling.

Didn't get any help with acoustics, but on my next build I will and I will also make the space dedicated. When I started this room I was going to do a 70 inch Sony RP and get a nice sectional.

After I had drywalled the space I started reading this forum and things got out of hand. You could actually call my build "the theater that ate my basement".

My wife found this bar on ebay. All I know is it came out of an estate auction in NY. We pretty much designed the theater around it. It came with a built-in refrigerator. It was VERY old (50's I guess) so I elected not to use it. The top is wood with a black lacquer finish. The base of the bar is plywood with custom doors built around a semi-circular refrigerator. The outside is a wood frame covered in leather. The stools are steel pipe with leather cushions.

Bar picture gallery

Some photos in the finished theater

From the ebay listing

The original compressor

As it was, pre-theater, when we brought it home

Top and cover removed

Door detail

Some time after it was originally built (30's, said the seller) the base was added and the top raised to match. The quality of the modification is not as good as the original work.
