I have a 73" "3D-ready" Mits DLP, and I just recently bought the Samsung un55c8000.

However, since the poll only let me pick one, I picked the LCD since I can actually watch 3D on it right now.

Samsung HL67A750 LED DLP

My mom works for Sony, and she brought home a copy of "Starhawk BETA"
I quickly slipped it into my trusty PS3, and started playing.

Why are DLPs so much more popular than plasmas and LCDs? Are they better at producing 3D than plasmas and LCD?

Over 4 Million 3D ready DLP HDTVs were sold in the US alone. That is a large market to help establish 3D as an established format. If the CEM are smart they will take advantage of this.

There are over 75 million HDTV's in the USA alone so that 4 million is a very small amount.

That is over 5% of all the HDTVs that have been sold. Of course it is even a larger percentage of the 3D market. I wish I had 4 million potential customers as I would be a rich man.

The poll should have had seperate DLP options.

1) Mitsubishi 3D ready TV that will work with 3D.
2) Samsung 3D ready TV that won't work with hardly anything since samsung sucks.

The picture was right as well. Cnet gave the Samsung 3D ready DLP HL61A750 and HL67A750 its Editor Choice Award and ranked it as having one of the best pictures of any HDTV that they had ever reviewed.

It's a shame Samsung abandoned its customers that bought these sets.

I have both

I bought a 73C9 Mits not only to upgrade (size) from the Sammy 61a750, but also so I could transition to 3D easier.

One nice advantage there is that if you get DLP-Link glasses they should work on both televisions. Granted, assuming you get some sort of 3D working on the samsung. Dang... every day I look at this forum and I'm reminded what a craptastic company that is.

I have plans to order it, but I'm waiting to see what happens on Father's Day... If it is not forthcoming, I will wait for a discounted price from one of the vendors. Unless, of course, I just can't stand it any longer.

Samsung PN50C7000 Plasma but it's probably going back (not because of the 3D, too many issues with regular 2D viewing) .

* Firmware updates have cleared up most of the issues.

3D Ready DLPs appear to have a strong backing. You would think this would be incentive for someone to manufacture a reasonably priced 3D Checkerboard Converter.

Samsung un55c8000 and their matching glasses. World Cup looks quite good via DirecTV. On Demand 3D demo looks VERY good. 2d->3d conversion works well on high contrast newer video. No 3D bluray player yet as there isn't much to watch at the moment. Will have to move the Playstation 3 back to this TV and get some 3D games.

With the faster scan rate I haven't become accustomed to feeling like I'm on the set of current shows whereas my older 60hz scan of previous sets didn't look that way. An odd sensation...

Now Netflix streaming HD movies look very good. On my previous DLP, which was larger, they had a grainy compression feel to them.

Looking for more 3D content this year.
