Hi, I recently purchased a new Sony 46-inch NX810, and have been having problems with 3d ghosting. I have my PS3 connected and play games such as Wipeout in 3d, however, it's nearly unplayable due to the amount of ghosting! I was also watching some 3d trailers and it was pretty bad...

Why is this? Is it because I am using Category 1 (Standard Speed) HDMI Cables? Would the High Speed cables fix this? Thanks!

If you are really using category 1 class hdmi cables, then they are only rated at 2.25 Gb/s and NOT fast enough for 1080p/24 3D viewing. Category 2 class hdmi cables are rated at 10.2 Gb/s and are required for 3D.

Yeah, I am pretty sure they are Category 1 because they are some no-names that I bought on Amazon in '07. They work in 3d though, but there is a lot, and I mean a lot of ghosting in for example Wipeout. I expected a little ghosting, but it's very bad on my TV. Is this normal? Or could it be my HDMI cables or something else?

This is normal :-(
Look at my Videos on Youtube. I make examples with tumble on ps3.
Search with 'Sharp le925e ghosting'

In Reviews the Sharp has better 3D as the Sony. But i think the crosstalk is terrible on all 3D tv's incl. Plasma.

almost all 3D cross talk problems with the 3D TVs that have the latest firmware updates from the manufacturer's web site are caused by the poor quality of the current generation of 3d glases or by having the Tv's backlightin or brightness settint set to high.

I Set the brightness very low. And ghosting is still there, but since the new firmware from this weekend, it is a little bit better :-)

Not true, there is lots of info on this. The two top Plasma TVs (VT25 and C8000) have little to none. I own the PN63C8000 and have Wipeout, Motorstorm 3D, and Stardust 3D. There is virtually no crosstalk on my TV with these games, just pure crisp 3D. I've been putting this out, as have others, but manufacturers are staying quiet because they want to sell LED TVs, but the bottom line is LED is not good for 3D. Too slow compared to Plasma.

I compare these Plasmas, and believe me, they have the same crosstalk. It's only darker, because of Plasma technique, but it is still there.
If you can't See the crosstalk on your Samsung, then don't Search for it. If i would Show you the issue, you See it everytimes.

You may have looked at a pre-1026 firmware Plasma (at least on the Samsung)? Believe me I looked very hard for it. On Motorstorm, for example, I would stop the car on every track at different sections and spin the camera around to see if there was crosstalk. I know what I'm looking for because I've been researching this stuff since 3DTVs came out and it drives me nuts! On one out of ten tracks there is one section where the flags exhibit crosstalk. Before the races start there is crosstalk around the wheels of the car or motorcycle as the camera spins on the countdown, but it disappears when the race starts. Other than that there is none, so yes, there is a slight amount, however, I've played Motorstorm on the Sony and crosstalk is evident everywhere. On Stardust there is the tiniest amount around certain meteors as they circle the planet, otherwise none. Bottom line: the Plasmas have much less crosstalk than current LED TVs. I'm not an LED hater, it's just a fact. I did A LOT of research before making my purchase, looking at every TV available in 3D and the C8000 and VT25 were far superior. Take a look at the CNET reviews and they verify what I'm saying. I hope the manufacturers fix these issues because I want 3D to succeed but they have a ways to go with LED. If this is important to you avoid LED and go with Plasma.....

Ok, i don't Know the Firmware. So maybe you are right. But i don't believe Reviews anymore. In the reviews they Write that my Sharp le925 has the same low crosstalk like the vt25. But i think my crosstalk is terrible. So i believe this Users here more than Review pages.
Can you make Videos from your Test like my Videos? That would Be Great for all customers.

I think that's a good idea. I've also seen store demos of the Panasonic plasma with the Panasonic 3D demo v1.2. From what I saw, it actually had the same crosstalk on scenes I've viewed on my HX909. Of course, I don't know what firmware was used or how it was setup, but was pretty surprised by it. Since 3D is still new, and most reviewers don't know hot to properly setup or evaluate it, I think it would be helpful posting screenshots through the glasses of certain scenes known to show crosstalk. I've posted screenshots in the owners threads, but I think something like that should be done here to benchmark the current crop of sets to see if the next generation actually improves anything.

I have the 55NX810 and I am using high speed HDMI cables. Very little cross talking here. I love this TV, only thing better would be the 60".

I also have a 55NX810 with little ghosting present in 3D. I can make it ghost with simulated 3D or real 3D if I set the 3d depth too high. (If the 3D depth is set higher thasn +1 , I get some ghost.) Look at the 'options' mode then '3D setting' and you will see the depth setting

I will take some gaming crosstalk on the LED instead of the Dark PAnny/SAm plasma PQ in 3D. At least with SOny you can adjust the brightness better. The Panny glasses also have darker lenses to work with plasma.

One of the reasons the Sony is brighter is they don't come with polarization lenses. These lenses may reduce brightness, but they allow you to tilt your head.

I find that hard to believe, my 810NX has continually had crosstalk issues. I don't think HDMI cables will really make a difference as it's related to the shutter of the glasses.

I had a 52HX905 480 Hz - It produce a few crosstalk.
I bought a new model 55EX725 240 Hz - a hell crosstalk.
So I solved this problem with a PANASONIC PLASMA VIERA - TC-P55VT30B. Forget other brands.
Try this and you will get the splendor of the 3D, a clear image with no one crosstalk.
I have 2540 3D photos taken with the FUJI W3 ( a spetacular 3D camera ) with zero crosstalk. AVATAR 3D is more clear that on cimema, with zero crosstalk..
