I tried that and the SMS button still not working. I also tried the 3d vision emulation trick but no success. Does the SMS button only work when SBS content is detected ??

What I meant was to not use the 3D-XL and just send out a 120Hz frame sequential signal instead of side by side.
I mean it should work, but that is something to try.

"All you need to do is put your 3d-XL after your HDMI selector i.e.
PS3/Xbox---------HDMI selector---------3DXL---------Projector"

That is a bit weird. So your switch handles the bandwidth, just not the 120Hz signal I guess.
I wonder now if any switch will handle the 120Hz Signal.

Has the ESPN 3D when viewed in TnB 3D format been fixed with the 3D-XL ?

Ok. It worked. Are there differences in 3d effects between hd66+dlp link AND hd66+3dxl+dlp ? I got curious. Do you know why the 3DXL doesn't recognize the mkv sbs files ?? The SBS button only lights when sbs is detected ?? Tks

I can only guess, but assume it is a different side by side format than is sent by DirectTV or whatever hardware box sends side by side.

Why the 3DXL doesn't work before the HDMI switch? This is only 720P 120Hz.
I have a VIP Displayer and it works before the HDMI switch I have which is 1.3.

ok, if I read the earlier posts correctly (which I probably dont!!).
I have 4 sets of samsung ir glasses for use with my Sammy 50C6900. Wnealsenbb noted a samsung ir emitter earlier and having looked at the site, the glasses they use are compatible with the 2010 series Samsungs. Does this mean I could buy an emitter and use my existing sets of glasses with my 3dxl and hd65 setup.

Please dont hesitate too shoot me down in flames for a bit of a newbie question

That is exactly right, and if you get some ultra-clear samsung ir glasses they will work with your tv.

Are there differences in terms of quality or 3D depth between the different output methods (quad buffered opengl, software pageflipping, nvidia stereo driver, etc) ?

If I was to go with the IR setup, would it also work when I switch over to a PC for gaming if that PC uses an ATI video card ? Or do ATI video cards and drivers only work with DLP link with no support for an IR emitter type setup ?

I am guessing so. I have nVidia, but just sent the regular 120Hz signal (not 3DTVPlay framepacked) and the 3D-XL sent the sync to my IR glasses just fine. I assume ATI would be the same.

Selling my 3D VIP Theater with 2 pairs of DLP Link Glasses. Asking $625 shipped, I'll also include a 25' HDMI cable and an AC power adapter instead of the weak USB one that came with the set. As far as functionality I love it and think it's great, I've had it hooked up to my Acer 5360 on a 116" sized picture. I'm sure you guys can check out the reviews in this thread I think it lives up to the hype. I'm selling because I currently hate my job lol and I dunno if I will be with the same income the coming months and I desperately need a new laptop, so I'm trying to ditch the 3d but hopefully keep the projector if I can afford.

please email me if interested

Any body else having trouble with the Xbox 360 and 3dxl? For some reason the ir won't activate until I first use my ps3 in 3d. The 3dxl is doing the side-by side conversion, but no ir is being transmitted.

That would be great since we have the same Ultimate 3d Heaven ir emitter and glasses.

Once in a while the ir will work right off the bat with the 360 but the great majority if the time the ir won't be working.

OK Folks

New firmware alert.

Found out from Optoma today that there is a new firmware version available.

Version C06_U14 has "...improved support for Top and Bottom from sources such as Comcast. The SBS button would need to be pushed twice for this to activate"

I also received an email from another user who says it fixed a syncing issue with his 3D glasses in his single-3D-projector configuration, tho I cannot confirm this, as mine is a dual projector setup.

I've been told that Optoma technical support has been briefed and that you can get the new version from them directly.

Cheers!

Well how much do you think is a good deal?

I'm selling it either way, maybe instead of being so pretentious you would understand someone who is selling an item usually starts with a number and anticipates receiving offers that are lower than the asking price. Have you ever been offered more than what you asked?

I spent a lot of time on these forums learning from nothing about how to get a 3d home theater projector set up. Then I waited and waited with a backordered 3D-XL, but finally cancelled and went with the new company VIP and the thing works great. It's currently still listed for 499 on 3d-vip.com.

If anyone is interested in naming their price for a 3D VIP theater shipped to them, shoot me a PM or email wlimtiaco@gmail.com

Hi there rdjam. Do you know where we get this new firmware update? I've searched the Optoma site and google but nothing comes up.

Thanks

This happens to me too. I had to switch to DLP Link. Also I didn't have optical audio handy so I had to listen through the projector speaker, which is pretty funny when I have like 3k of audio gear here. It was really fun though. I might have to pick it up for the PS3.

lbadvisor, that vip theater is equivalent to the optoma 3D-XL which is 299. Glasses are 49 each. 25' cables are 8 bucks. 408 bucks new. Since you have dlp link glasses instead of IR there isn't any reason not to drop down to the Viewsonic VP3D1 for 50 bucks less, so 358 total. 625 for used is WAY out of line. I know we were all thinking it, John just couldn't keep it to himself.
But anyway, there is a seperate forum for buying/selling stuff.

thanks for clarifying.

3D-XL was 399 when I ordered it, and ultra clear 60 dollar DLP glasses were the cheapest.

Well if you guys know anyone that hasn't purchased yet have them contact me, I'm willing to negotiate I just need to get rid of the thing.

Yep x3 now. I noticed this the other day. It was the first time I had switched on the 360 for 3d without playing on the ps3 first. Thought I was going nuts since I had seen it work before. Happens with the 3dtvcorp emitter. Pretty annoying. Glad there's a fix floating around for it. Guess i'll email optima europe and see how I go.

TK421 why aren't you at your post?.......TK421 do you copy?

I email technical support for new version. I just received an email that reads: The new software version is attached. Please note that the only change is that this version is considered "production" where as the previous version was "beta". There are no changes other than the version number.
